That's great that your SO is so supportive, I'm also lucky in that respect but many of the girls here aren't so blessed. This is a diverse community in many ways, from no support to full involvement, from rarely getting the opportunity to dress to fully transitioning, from young to more mature, but we all share our love of expressing our feminine sides.
Struggling to understand, join the club! Oh, you just did. My advice? Don't waste your time, just accept and enjoy being a whole person.
Anything you need, just pop your question in one of the forums and we'll do our best for you.

I'm not sure any of us fully understand what's going on in our heads. Take me for example. I'm trans. I could talk someone through what that means, but if anyone asked me to explain why I'm like this I'd have to shrug my shoulders and say 'Pffft!'
It doesn't really matter whether I can explain it or not of course. It just IS, and I love being this way.
Anyway, you've just joined an incredibly supportive and friendly community. There's a huge amount to explore. Have fun looking around, and don't be shy about asking for help if you need it.

I've asked and have been asked the why question. One CD I met last year is 80. Has been a CD for many many years. She said I really don't know why. So just blame it on the Pink Fog!
Another CD said, when asked why or what are you. Tell them you're Trans. It usually stops them in their tracks.

@melyork In the dark ages, before the internet, we had few if any people we could ask. We either had to figure it out ourselves, suffer with it or get labeled insane and get set off to get "cured." Gender is not fixed with only two possible conditions. It is like hair color, skin tone or mechanical aptitude, we all fit somewhere on this sliding scale of identity. I'm Tia en femme and I'm the other guy in drab. For me, Tia is a refuge in a chaotic world. For you, Melissa is whatever feels right to you. Get dressed, let her breath and feel who she is.

Hey Melissa, the question of why comes up regularly in these pages and I don't think any of the girls here have been able to fully articulate an answer. My advice is just to accept it, run with it and enjoy it! You've certainly come to the right place to connect with others of a similar mindset. Have a good look around and join in when you're ready.
