I am a life long closet crossdresser, my mother put me in my sisters jeans when I was small, then her hand off's as I grew. When I was 9-10 yrs old she had me in her hand-me-down pants slacks and jeans, saying: "no one will notice the zipper on the other side", yet wearing her slacks and jeans in school made me nervous and also excited.
My mom worked so I came home to an empty house where I could try on her other things, my favorites were her nylons and pantyhose, then I found I fit her heels and boots which was amazing for a couple of years until my feet grew too big.
By puberty I was wearing female underwear regularly under my boy clothes and I liked to sleep in pantyhose, nylon stockings and tights.
It stayed that way until I married (I purged my collection,) I've purged many times, but I've always been drawn back to cross dressing.
After my marriage failed (She left 'us' for a richer guy, never knew about my CD'ce.ing) I became more adventurous and bought dresses and skirts at the thrift store, to wear when alone at home.
When my youngest finally moved out after college. I started playing with wigs and makeup, and now have a full wardrobe and I love to dress completely. (at work I wear feminine underwear and nylons every day now.)
I want to dress age appropriate (passable if possible) and go out, but so far it has been just a walk in the park after dark or filling the car at the gas station. But I now want to be a social butterfly met like minded people and go out to clubs that cater for my addiction, but I am still quite shy and nervous. LOL.

Hi, Karon, thanks for your introduction and welcome to our amazing community.
Yes, many of us have purged and almost instantly regretted it, all those lovely things thrown away in the forlorn hope of giving it all up for good this time 🙄.
You use the word, "addiction", here's where I'll offer another view that doesn't have the negative connotations. I'd say "penchant" for dressing, or recognising and accepting that there is a feminine aspect to our personalities. I've found that denying and trying to purge that aspect of me is much more difficult and no more successful than throwing stuff away.
But, I digress, this is a safe place to discuss all things crossdressing and more so, feel free to ask any questions you may have, we'll do our very best to help
In the meantime, enjoy finding out all that there is to do here.

I enjoyed reading your story very much. I found similarities between you and me. I myself have purged many times in the past too, before Sandie came to accept herself. And, Sandie enjoys nylons, panties, and hose too.
You'll make many friends here on CDH. Don't worry about that.
Sandie has cd for over 45 years, starting when she was a teenager. Sandie began with hose, and then progressed to more femme clothes.

It's a really safe space to chat about our common interests. It's not unusual for the urge to grow as we get older. That may be because there are more opportunities and financial concerns are less, or it may just be a matter of ok it's now or never.
