Hey there ladies!

Wanted to introduce myself. My name is Lindsey and I’m a longtime crossdresser who’s finally starting my to embrace this feminine side of me rather than feel shame and guilt.

Like many of you, I started at a young age (6!) when I found a bag full of mother’s old dresses, slips and pantyhose. They all felt so exquisite on me and I loved playing dress-up. The first time I put everything together (full outfit, makeup, breastforms, wig, etc) I was 28. I will never forget the happiness and satisfaction of seeing a woman looking back at me in the full length mirror that night.

I’m now 37 and would love to go out in public en femme. I’m a DFW resident so any North Texas gals who are up for shopping and lunch, let me know!

@jeried everyone has their own pace. I mean, it took me years to where I had the time/space/money to purchase an outfit, basic makeup, breastforms, wig, etc. it wasn’t until I was out of grad school and gainfully employed. But it’s a fabulous feeling to see a woman in the mirror - it’s hard not to fixate on breasts protruding from your chest. The weight of them in your bra is also a wonderful feeling as they jiggle and bounce with each step or movement.

@lindseyjacobs87 Hi Lindsey

Welcome to CDH 🙂

Wow ... I remember being 37 🙁

I know that the whole 'shame and guilt' thing is common, but you know what? ... this is who we are, so there really isn't anything to feel bad about. I LOVE that you're embracing your feminine side.

Also, I'm sure that some of our North Texas girls will be in touch 🙂

Have you seen our 'Friend Finder' yet? Go to the Header bar and click on 'Social'. Then, on the drop down menu. select '(New) Find Friends Beta'. Once there, you can filter by 'USA' and 'Texas' and then down to City level if you want.

We have LOTS of very active members in Texas 🙂

Hugs

Ellie x

@ellyd22 aww thank you Ellie!! 😊 Such a kind welcome. I’ll have to get acclimated and acquainted with the site but look forward to connecting with other ladies in North Texas. And yes, I still need to come out to my SO, but just admitting and accepting who I am even feels like a relief in and of itself. And I LOVE being feminine and expressing this side of me 🙂

Hi Lindsey, welcome to CDH.

It sounds like you've already taken a tour of the site, so you'll know that you're joining a brilliant sisterhood of people who are just like you.

Trying on mum's things is almost a rite of passage for many crossdressers, so you're definitely in good company!

Texas is a bit far for me, but there's bound to be plenty of girls in your neck of the woods. I'm sure some will make themselves known very soon!

@melodeescarlet aww thanks, Melodee! I’m not sure how CD/Trans friendly Frisco and surrounding areas are. But, I’m willing to venture out - especially if I can find someone to go with me. Im so self conscious about my voice and that would bother me if I have to interact with normal folks in public.

@lindseyjacobs87 Oh, to be clear I was not going out back when I lived there. I would think, though, that Dallas would have some places you could go and feel comfortable.

To be honest, I would not worry about your voice. I understand that it feels very odd to look one way and sound another, but you are who you are. As I've said previously, I'm not fooling anyone with my appearance - I'm 6'+ in heels and 200lbs and wearing bright red hair. Anyone who is somehow surprised when they hear me is...well, probably not the sharpest knife in the drawer. But I go out unapologetically - this is the voice that goes with this look, period. I think it really just takes a few rounds before you come to that conclusion. 🙂

Hello Lindsey and welcome to CDH from another North Texan.  I've been shopping at Dillard's, Macy's, and JcPennys at the Shops of Fairview and I have been to JJill at Watters Creek. Get out occasionally.  Mainly to church on Sundays and lunch afterwards with church friends that accept Paula. I occasionally venture out to get my nails done too. Still trying to get out more though. Again, welcome to CDH and enjoy! ❤️

@toothpick ah ok! I’m not far from there. Yes I imagine that area is relatively quiet and less foot traffic. When I get the courage to go, I may just try that or across Stacy Rd at Target. I’d love to go to Stonebriar and walk around, see a movie, etc. I’ve assume Nordstrom may have more accepting staff, but maybe in today’s day and age people are more accepting or simply don’t care as much as we think they do.

@lindseyjacobs87 very very old nickname. It's a goal now. Need to drop some weight. I've been to a couple of kohls, Walgreens, and CVS as well. Going to a movie is also a goal.

@toothpick you and me both, girl! I’m watching what I eat, drinking more water and less alcohol, and getting active. Tried on a dress last night that hadn’t fit AT ALL 4 months ago and I could at least get it on comfortably. Need a bit more room to squeeze breastforms in though. I don’t need to have a bikini body - just want to blend in better with other 30 something suburban moms 😊

I can't speak for Texas, but most large cities are pretty indifferent to how you dress. While I am from southern California where it really is not an issue, I have dressed fully in femme and been shopping in Little Rick, AR, and Oklahoma City with no issues at all, not even a look.

Just be yourself and use some common sense. Popular and busy pedestrian areas like city centers and shopping/dinning areas should be safe enough. Avoid dark allies and seedy bars and you should be fine.

@jjandme thank you! Yes I think it’s very different than it was 10 years ago. A lot more tolerable and especially younger people - they don’t care and they’re consumed with their own life and cell phone 😂 I have Target on my list as it has a self checkout area so I won’t necessarily have to speak. I also assume their employees (maybe even clientele) are more progressive. It’s across the street from a Cinemark theater that is totally self serve too. Would love to see Mean Girls 🩷

I use to stress over this as well, but have reached a point where I no longer care. My voice is my voice, and the name on a credit card is a give away. I think I pass at a distance, but up close I most people would know so I just don't worry about it anymore. The world knows there are CDs out there, and if meeting me and realizing I am a relatively normal person makes it a little more acceptable for others to dress then I am.happy.

@jjandme totally agree with that sentiment. And yes I enjoy expressing my feminine side but I’m not over the top in how I dress or do makeup. Certainly want to blend in and look like any other suburban mom.
