Thanks to all. I have a question you may be able to help with: I want to buy some women's shoes. I am male size 9, and apparently that is equal to 10.5 for women. Such shoes don't seem to exist, so will my feet be ok in women's size 7.5? Thanks
I take a UK size 10, but I can usually wear a 9 in women's shoes.
As a size 9 you'll probably be all right with a woman's 8, maybe 7.5.
@jayhoney I think the width has a lot to do with it. A shoe size is based on length and that's the same whether in ladies' or mens' shoes. If you're a wide fitting, the same as you may need to go up a half-size (or a whole size if they don't do halves) in mens' shoes, you probably need to go up further in womens shoes because they're built narrower for any given length. I'm right on a UK10 in length but take UK11/EU45 to get a comfortable width in mens' shoes, but my EU45 heels are all rather tight across the toe band or box. My smallest femme shoes are my pointy flats which are US size 12W - that's the same length as UK10 but wider, and they fit like a glove.
