Hi everyone, I’m new to this group and fairly new to cross dressing. I think maybe I’m not as far along in my journey as many others in this group, I currently only dress in my home - I have yet to go out in public. I guess you could say I’m in the closet regarding this side of myself but I’m working on it. I’m still working on certain aspects of cross dressing as well - still learning makeup skills for example :). This community seems like a very friendly and supportive community which I think is just amazing - we could all use a little support I think. I still need to update my profile and get familiar with this website but I’ll work on that too.

There's no 'right place to be' in terms of crossdressing, or indeed any kind of fixed trajectory that anyone should follow. Everyone has different circumstances; some would love to be able to dress more frequently than they do but are prevented from doing so by their home lives, others have no physical brake on their dressing and yet are happy to do so only occasionally. The 'I have a supportive wife and am able to dress freely and go out whenever I want' scenario, while highly desirable, is relatively rare.
I'm trans, I'm single, and I was 61 in September. I dress full time at home and have done so for many, many years. Until I was 59 I was completely closeted; I'd never told anyone I dressed, and no-one had ever found out. Now, largely thanks to the support and encouragement that I've encountered on this site, I'm out to my mother, my sister and my neighbour; I've had several makeovers; I've been to bars, clubs and even the theatre in three different cities; I've met several other CDH girls in person. All of that has happened in a relatively short space of time.
I count myself very fortunate that I found this place when I did. You're absolutely right when you say that it's friendly and supportive, and the sheer sense of release that comes from finally being able to talk to other people like yourself is quite wonderful.
Anyway, as usual I've rambled on!

Your perception is spot on, you will find friendship, encouragement and support here and don't worry about where you are in your own journey, I guarantee there are other girls in the same position.
I agree 100% with what Ellie says about being able to talk to like-minded others, for well over 50 years, I felt alone and somehow "wrong" until 9 months ago when I found and joined CDH. Now, I've made real friends here and, with their support, I've spent two days, fully dressed, in public and I can't wait to do that again!
There's loads of experience among the girls so don't hesitate to ask if there's anything you need help with.
In the meantime, read through some forum topics and check some profiles, it'll help you to decide what to put in your own profile.

For someone who is new to dressing and who has some restrictions, I would recommend being careful and to take things slowly. In the meantime, read the forum and absorb as much information as you can. You will then be able to set priorities, such as figuring out which clothes to buy next, and focus on them.
I would love to hear more from you on the forums as you grow.
