I came out of the closet finally earlier this year as a trans woman. I have been dressing in women's clothing full-time since 2014. The biggest difference for me now is that my clothing style has taken a more feminine look to them. I have been working to feminize my voice and I am struggling with that. It is a lot harder for me than I thought it would be. I am also currently looking for a psychiatrist so that I can begin hormone treatments as soon as I can get the necessary paperwork approved.
For me, this has been a long journey. Being of an age where you didn't talk about this nor, even think about transitioning. My third time wearing women's clothing, (somewhere around age 5), my father caught me and told me what a horrible person I was and an embarrassment to him and my mother. Then tell me how I had offended God and that I was going to hell...well you get the point. It never stopped me from wearing women's clothing, I just learned to be really good at hiding my clothes and since I was left alone quite a bit, I had more than enough opportunities to dress how I felt.
This has been a very long journey for me and I just hope that I can finish the journey and be able to live my true self for the rest of my life.
