Hi, Anandini and welcome to CDH, the safest, warmest, most accepting and supportive crossdresser community anywhere.

You will definitely make friends here, most of us have gone through/are going through the same journey and we love to get to know new members, and each other of course. It would help if you can tell us a bit more about yourself in your profile, though, if you have a look at other's profiles, you'll see the sort of thing we say about ourselves and that will help you to decide what to put in your own.

You say that you want to pass as a woman, the first thing I'll say is that's easier said than done but, if you look at some of the photos, you'll see some of us get pretty close. However, real life doesn't always reflect what you might see in a photo so most of us are happy to be close enough, it's about how we feel more than what others think.

If you read through the forums, one thing that will stand out is that almost all of those that venture out en femme are universally accepted and greeted as normally as a woman, times they are a'changin'. 

You can look for members near you by using the Friend Finder, Members – Crossdresser Heaven Forums, just put in your area and all the members in that area will be displayed.

Anything you need or any questions you have, just pop a post in the forums and we'll do our best to help.

You're among many friends here, with lots of varied CD experience, as you'll discover by reading our stories. Some are fully trans, and some can only dress rarely by force of circumstance, but we're all sisters of one community.

As for "Passing", well, that is something open to various interpretations! Very few of us can hope to be taken as female on sight, especially as we get older.

My advice to you for your first outing is to find someplace where crossdressers can go in safety. A bar or club. I should imagine you will find them in NJ and New York.

But don't get hung up on passing. It's about how you feel inside that counts. The confidence you're looking for will come.

Allie's given you a very full welcome and directed you towards our Friend Finder, so I'll just address the whole 'passing' thing.

If you look at the photos on my profile page you'd be tempted to think that I'm pretty passable. Well, yes, I was ... on that particular day and after three hours hard graft from a very talented make up artist.

On an average day I look NOTHING like that. I wish I did!

With practice I'll be able to look okay after doing my own makeup, but I very much doubt that I'll ever be able to match what you see in the pictures.

The point is that now my confidence is growing it doesn't really matter as much to me any more. I'm not going to look perfect? Who cares? I'm planning to go out and have fun anyway 🙂

 One of the obstacles to passing is overcoming the worst critic in the room. Ourselves! 

 Each and every step you take. Dressing, makeup and grooming puts you closer to your goals of going out as Anandini. One confidence booster is a professional makeover. Another is attending a crossdresser/Trans event like Keystone, Erie etc.
