Hi! My name is Roxanne. I'm located in Western Canada. Mid-life. Yes there was a crisis. In fact there were crises. For one, I got divorced in December and still getting used to the solitude after living in a house with kids for all those years. I didn't buy any fancy cars though. I refuse to drive. I'm a clutz and will at best cause material damage and at worst seriously injure or kill someone. So I'm doing the rest of society a huge favour by paying people to drive me around.

I started exploring my gender fluidity through feminizing about a year and a half ago. I am slowly becoming more public about it, though I still have both feet comfortably in the closet. Looking for a sense of community so I can build my confidence, strengthen my identity, find some role models to look up to, and some like-minded girls to shoot the shit with. It gets lonely at times just putting on makeup and dressing up for myself. I hope to be able to share that experience with some friends, in time.

A bit about me - I have a few hobbies: electronic music/DJing is the longest running one (started back in 2001 during the vinyl era, at the risk of sounding like that bitch). I also play video games daily - mostly military MMOs and basebuilders removed link Aside from that, I once rode bicycles competitively, and though those days are 50 pounds behind me, I still ride pretty often. I am passionate about computers, hardware, PC building, overclocking... All the nerdy shit.

I also go to school part time to become a translator (my native tongue is French, I can  also get around in Spanish, and I'm working on Russian).

I work as an office administrator, which is very boring but fills some of my need to see other human beings, and involves editing and proofreading texts, which soothes my mind and brings me great satisfaction.

I've been getting better at doing my makeup, and I found this site while I was looking for advice on concealing my very strong, needs-2-shaves-a-day stubble. I found what I needed 🙂 Tattoo concealer baby! What an odd superpower I was assigned; my hair grows about four times faster than average. I've had 2 inch months. Honestly, it's the French genes - we're either bald at 25 or chewbacas for life. I guess I lucked out. Though I don't feel that way when I have to shave my body every second day or feel like a cactus pear.

I feel like this novel has already given that away, but I'm neurodivergent. I am certifiably diagnosed with ADHD and I probably also have the old tism. I can concentrate on a task so hard that people have to say my name 5 times to get my attention. Sometimes if I think about a problem really hard, the lights flicker. What's your superpower?

All right, you've almost made it to the end! Congratulations! The writer in me tends to fill up pages with pointless drivel real quick, and I am trying to work on concision, so I will stop myself there since I have already failed miserably.

I look forward to meeting you all.

P.s.: don't worry, I'm not usually this long-winded.

Hey Roxanne

Welcome to CDH 🙂

That was a REALLY enjoyable debut post! Thank you so much for writing it.

You'll find that this is an incredibly warm and supportive place. It's easy to make friends here, and the girls on the site love to chat.

There's lots to explore. Have fun poking around! I suspect that you're not going to have any problems at all while you're doing that, but if you DO need help with anything then just shout.

Hugs

Welcome Roxanne from another very likely neurodivergent girl (my son is diagnosed) 🙂  I really enjoyed this intro post, I can't ever write about things in brief, either!  I can relate to a lot of your profile, too - especially the bit about being a late bloomer.

Do jump straight in, engage and come and chat with us about all things girly - this is a wonderful community of like-minded sisters, there will be someone who has experience and can offer an opinion on just about anything you might wish to ask.  You can feel free to open up and discuss your innermost thoughts without any judgement, if you should wish.

Looking forward to getting to know more about you as you post!

Hugs,
Fiona xxx

@princessroxanne Welcome to CDH, Roxanne!

It sounds as if you would be a great candidate for laser hair removal, although I don't know how that works on a face. However, there is IPL, as a substitute.

I look forward to hearing more from you on the forums.

If if do the old, " If I knew then what I know now" number, I would do laser hair removal and be done with shaving.

My main advice is to get oit the door and enjoy yourself. Get a few make up lessons to gain confidence, or do like I do and just let the pros do my make up the few times I go out for events. I just do my own light make up if just ouy casually.

@jjandme Oh I am laser removing plenty, but alas I think I need a bigger laser. Or admittedly, use the one I have at more consistent and regular intervals. But yeah I have probably zapped my face like, 20 times now... No progress whatsoever.

Might be fun to have my makeup done professionally! Though I am getting pretty comfortable doing it myself.

Thanks for the ideas 🙂

A propeer home laser runs $7-8 hundred dollars, but still are not nearly as effective as professional treatments, or so I understand.
