Have just joined at the age of 64. Interesting to read from a fellow member that the need to wear a dress first came at about the same age. I was much earlier, but not until my early twenties, when out of nowhere I felt the need to put on some lipstick. No idea where that came from. Maybe something on TV (appropriate acronym!). Anyway as you do when you're young I explored this feeling and soon had a full set of makeup. Naturally clothes followed. Shopping for female attire was a bit more stressful before online shopping. I didn't have much; a lovely pair of black patent stilettos, a bra, skirt, an awful dress, a rather severe M and S suspender girdle, black stockings, a blouse, and later a wig, breast forms and some jewellery. Although living on my own I had a busy job, a girlfriend and lots of sports, music and social activities. I probably dressed about 20 times.
Then the girlfriend became serious, we got married and I disposed of everything I had. Fast forward 35 years and the desire has never left me. I wouldn't say it has blighted my life - I have a lovely wife (who I probably wouldn't have if I came out) and two wonderful daughters, but it is instructive that after all this time the need to dress still pulses through me. My wife is going abroad on holiday for 10 days in June (I don't fly) and I have booked, at some expense, a 5 hour makeover with BWBG in London. Looking forward hugely to this, with not a little trepidation.
I've also spent a great deal of time creating an Amazon wish list and will be ordering a complete outfit and makeup set, wig etc. on the day she leaves. Like most of us I've struggled financially for most of my life but am now retired and comfortable, and I deserve this. I don't imagine I can keep any of it so it'll all have to go before she returns, but I'm just so looking forward to spending over a week dressed as a woman.
I've never interacted with anyone over this before, but if you've read this far and have nothing to say, just answer me one question: can I wear a white bra and suspender belt (or girdle) with black stockings?

While we are all similar and have many of the same desires we all differ on our goals or public expression and or level of personal experiences. Ultimately it is a place, home, or world were you can feel feel comfortable and confident in who you are; as being who you truly are as your authentic self of you being a man, a woman, or expressing your feminine desires feelings and or qualities. I am happy you are here and have made a choice to accept this part of yourself as self acceptance is the most important thing you can do for yourself and others. You can’t expect others to accept you if you don’t accept yourself all of you. As you are sharing a part of your authentic self here on CDH it ultimately lifts some of the burden that you may be feeling which many of us have carried for what seems like a lifetime you are not alone. Being here helps not only yourself but helps others gain acceptance and confidence I am happy you have made the step to be here. Welcome!

Hi Chrissie welcome to CDH it's nice to meet you we are like one big happy family on here so don't be shy come on in and join the family, I'm a mature crossdresser too I've been dressing most of my life since i was about 8 or 9 years old when i tried my older sister's lingerie on, I'm a UK girl too I'm up in Shropshire, I'm still in the closet to my wife and family too like everyone else i thought it would (cure) me if i got married but the older I've got the more my feminine side has gotten stronger, all my female clothes are stored up in the loft in suitcases my wife doesn't go up there, yes you can wear white lingerie with black stockings, I'm sure you will find lots of friends on here so if you have any questions just ask and the girls will get back to you X 🎀

Hi Chrissie, Yay for taking a dance in the wild side. You definitely can wear white and black, it has the suggestion of French maid, but ultimately it’s a personal choice so try it.
