So I found this forum board through a little digging on the internet. Anyway I'm a 21-year-old college student who crossplays in private. I have crossplayed in public once but only in a classroom environment. I haven't formally or casually cross dressed before. Very few people about in real life know about this hobby of mine. I am masculine and have a little feminine side to me. I was on a model car forum board in my teenage years for a bit. I am very new to crossplay and crossdressing in general.
I use he/him/his pronouns, I was unsure for a while about my gender identity for a couple of years until I started crossplaying in August 2023, for now I believe it Is not dysphoria or a self pleasuring desire. I do have a friend who is mtf I know in real life and from watching and looking at other mtf's stories and journeys and experiences I don't have similar feelings or experiences as they do.

Hi Eric and welcome to the site. It is often confusing for someone to understand themselves and why the need to dress. There are so many reasons and although may not be dysphoria but just for the pleasure of wearing the clothes. Life is an exploration and although being twenty one has long gone for me there are recollections of similar feelings and confusions for me and probably many girls here.

@jacquelinelarkspur Thank you. I had some tendencies to buy women's apparel before my college years. Currently I own three cosplay dresses and another cosplay outfit. I have never tried on a bra or panties before. I have done one outing so far during a spirit week at my local college. It wasn't too bad actually. I haven't tried makeup yet but might some day.
I googled 2B. That's quite the outfit! The closest I've ever come to cosplay is going to a Halloween party as a witch. I imagine that doesn't count as cosplay, unless it's as a character like Zelda or Yennefer.
I must admit to some surprise that you've never worn a bra before. It's such an essential part of the crossdresser's kit. I guess your cosplay outfits maybe have a built-in breastplate?
You're going to have a lot of fun when you come to use makeup. It really adds a whole new aspect to what we do, though not all of us use it, of course. It all depends on your own preferences, and there are no rights or wrongs. I love my makeup, never go en femme without it, and even after all the years I've been crossdressing I'm still learning about it.
And of course then I had to Google 2B as well.

@ellyd22 I am still a college student, who works a student worker job. I am still living at home. My parents don't really care about my hobby, they accept but I still find it awkward to cross dress around them (self-conscious reasons). Which is why I do it in private behind a closed door. I also worry about being judged by real life friends, I have wanted to tell a couple but I don't want to mocked by them. Once I graduate with a couple associates degrees and get a full-time job then I plan on experimenting further.
My Mum knows that I'm trans, and is fully accepting, but yes ... dressing around her still feels decidely awkward.
My sister, not at all. We even shop for clothes together.
However, after a lifetime of hiding who I really am, I didn't tell either of them until last summer. Why? Despite knowing in my heart how they'd react, I still wasn't 100% sure.
So I completely get the whole secrecy thing. If you don't NEED to tell anyone about the crossplay, why bother? You aren't doing anything wrong. It's okay to simply close the door and get on with whatever makes you happy.

@ellyd22 Thanks for the tips. From my knowledge of the crossplay community, the majority of people are FTM, MTF exists in the community but it's mostly FTM. I would like to try going to a convention where I would feel comfortable.
