Hello, I'm Jaime. After 30 years of denial, I finally accepted the fact that I am a crossdresser. At first, I wanted to kick open the front door in full drag and scream in my most feminine and loudest voice "Here I am, world! Deal with it!" However, real life is more difficult than that. Does anyone have any suggestions on fully embracing myself without making the same mistakes that other people have made starting out?
Fortunately, I don't have any family or close friends I have to come out to. I do have some very cool roommates I have known for years. We have a "live and let live" boundaries with each other. I don't foresee having any problems with them. I am going to join a local trans support group soon. Right now, I am concerned about building my wardroom, learning how to wear makeup, and incorporate my feminine self in my life and in the world.
So, any advice you can give this novice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Jaime! I would say you have taken the biggest first step! You have decided what to do. CDH has many articles on make-up, but I found that if you go to you tube and search for make-up tips, you will find many videos about what to buy and what to do. L'Oreal and Revlon have excellent sites with loads of make up videos as well. Purchase a good female fashion magazine to see how the girls appear in the ads as far as dress and make-up goes. Arc Soft has an excellent app that takes your face picture and you can computer add all kinds of make-up changes to your picture....really gives you idea of what you will look like when applications/changes are made. It is called Perfect 365. Free trial download. Shoes, you are best to try them on....Check out stores that take donated stuff and resell cheap. Most real women buy tons of shoes to match various dresses and never wear them again. Almost new shoes for cheap...same for hand bags. Jewelry.....well...shop around. Hope this points out the next few steps for you. PS. Reading books on female psychology...teaches you how and why women act like they do. Adds realism to your efforts. Also, keep everything subdued....we don't want to look like a drag queen.

Well Jaimie I think Veronica has said it best. The internet is full of tutorials and especially you tube so practice makes perfect. I think the most important thing you mentioned is joining a tg /cd group which the gay lesbian community supports and can lead you to. The best teachers are those members that have already experienced it and they are open to help. Even more importantly you will bond and make friends so you have companions to do things with outside the house. Sure you can learn about walking in heels and body posture but consider the fact you are already a girl from within and just be yourself as you are naturally and get out and have fun hon.
I want to thank everyone who have replied and welcomed me.
I haven't visited this site for about a week. I was busy working six days straight. Everyday wearing a dark blue polo shirt and black slacks. Today, after I took a shower, I immediately put on a bra and panties. Along with a skirt and a blouse. I never wanted to take them off. Yet, I had to, because I didn't have a wig, shoes, or makeup. The only thing that motivated me to put on my drab clothes was I promised myself to wear fingernail polish today. Little things like that I am referring to as "baby steps". Little accomplishments that will lead me to be more confident and comfortable with myself.
