@fayereed21 Welcome, Faye...you are definitely in the RIGHT place....everyone here is so warm and welcoming....a great way to learn more about that "hidden person" deep inside that just wants to come out and be FREE...!!!  Everyone does this at their own pace, so just chill and enjoy all that CDH has to offer....i personally found the Forums and Polls are a great introduction to all the topics available to choose that interest you, as well as to meet and make new friends/sisters....ENJOY...!!!

Hello, Faye, this is definitely the best place to find out "where it goes from here". Wherever you decide it goes, know that you'll get all the support you need from this great bunch of girls, genuinely friendly, accepting and understanding.

There's a wide variety of ages, experience and aspirations here so don't be afraid to ask for help, we love to do what we can for each other, and especially our new members.

@tinytinkerbell is right, a look through the forums is a good way to discover what life is like here (amazing) and there's loads of other things to do so enjoy exploring and welcome to the family!

@fayereed21 Hi Faye,  You're in a great place to find support for your journey of discovery.  Wondering who you are is a perfectly natural thing and seeking the answer is a completely human desire.  Many of us have accepted the challenge of this journey and have reached a better place in our life because of it.  Give yourself time and be sure to use all of the resources available to you whether it's CDH or help from a therapist.  It's a process and you will experience evolution over time.  I'm in a place now that I could not have even imagined in my earlier years.

Hello, I’m Faye. I’ve always wondered about who I am, but recently I’ve found it to have gotten worse. I’ve only ever dressed a handful of times, and unfortunately at the moment don’t have any resources to dress, or the money to buy them. I’m hoping to be able to soon, and to start this journey to accept this side of myself, and to see where it goes from here!

unfortunately at the moment I don’t have any resources to dress, or the money to buy them. I’m hoping to be able to soon, and to start this journey to accept this side of myself, and to see where it goes from here!

There are many ways to slowly start dressing the way you want without it costing an arm and a leg.

First of all, set, say, a monthly budget. Set aside that amount in cash (no credit cards) and choose items that make sense (have a want list). For example, some of the cheapest items will be underwear, especially panties. Some CDs stop there. You may have other needs, but once you have underwear you can then focus on other items.

You can find many bargains in thrift shops (anything goes, so know your stuff) and clothing discounters (recent fashions that didn't sell out quickly enough). If you take your known measurements and a measuring tape with you, you will quickly sort the wheat from the chaff. Start measuring yourself and clothes which you know that they fit you well.

Some people may suggest buying clothes on-line. That can be risky (for your budget, if something doesn't actually fit you), plus the quality can really suck. Learn to buy locally, if you can. If nothing else, you can learn to at least try items on, to make sure that they actually fit. And you can catch flash sales.

When starting, only buy what is on sale in familiar stores, all while keeping to your budget. If at the same time you find something that can be worn in drab mode, you can dual purpose that item. To most people, jeans are just jeans. Old Navy, for example, frequently have good jeans on sale cheap (but only if they are on your want list).

Shoes can be very expensive, plus you probably need to find wider sizes. Look for stores, such as DSW, that have good quality brands in wide sizes and frequent sales.

It will take at least a year to go through all four seasons once. At the end of that time you will know better how to go further. I am telling you this as someone who was in your position only a short while ago. I buy less clothes now because my closet is useful, manageable, and practical, and it only cost me a small fortune, not a big one. 😉
