Hopefully your wife will come around and change her mind... if it was out of the blue, it may have been shock at your admission to her.... Be patient with her as she tries to wrap her mind around the information.
@ronp She is very conservative and doubt if her mind ever changes. I just dropped the issue totally. Love her but her religious views are quite strong
@ellie56 Understood... but... just don't make assumptions and just give up. It's likely to be a long struggle. It may or may not work out - but try to keep her perspective in mind as well... she was just told that her husband, who she thought of in one specific way turns out to be very different.... right now her head is probably spinning with questions... Are you gay? What does this do to the family unit? Is she losing you? Are you going to transition? Its a lot to take in at once and she will need time... You've had a lot of time to wrap your head around what's going on.... she hasn't. Be patient with her and help her come to grips before you just give up... change is disruptive....
@ronp This interaction happened years ago,and seeing her disappointment I just decided to go further in the closet. Because of her medical issues intimacy is almost non existent. I did have gay experiences back in college before marriage, Id be lying if I said I don't recall them fondly
@ellie56 I apologize if I seem as if I'm being argumentative... that isn't my desire. I'm trying to relate my current circumstances to you as well. My wife is rather conservative, similarly to yours... I have been working hard to make sure I'm not giving the impression that I'm trying to hide things from her. I realize that my circumstances and yours are different... I'm just trying to make sure that you take where she's at and what she's feeling into account... It isn't going to be an instantaneous thing, if it happens... it may take forever... but you've got to let her come to terms with all of this. If you try to make huge jumps in one go, then things will definitely go badly.
@ronp please don't apologize Im fine. My attempt at telling her happened years ago. since that time I just never brought it up nor has she. I rarely dress if at all, however this mindset of feeling girly never fades. It's like an alternative world I live in t head. I enjoy our conversations
