Could you elaborate on what you mean by presenting yourself in women's clothing as a man in public?  You mention that you are not passable, which is not unusual. Your statements, however, express the idea that you are seeking to wear a dress in public while otherwise presenting as male, i.e. no wig, no makeup.  Before I could provided any suggestions, I would need you to clarify your goals.

Hi everyone, I can't say I'm new to this life style as I am 62 years old, but have been trying on ladies clothing most of my life.  I have gone out in public and found in quite satisfying I did do a lot of practice on my own before leaving the comfort of my house,  I have made a lot of nice lady friends along the way,  I feel its easier to go right up to the counter, usually when only one clerk is working and ask it its alright to try some clothes on,  most of the time they will say sure and open up a fitting room and even ask if they can bring you some thing special.  I have my "girl things in a bag like I just purchased at a different store,  then when I go in I strip off my guy things and put on my "girly" things and try on clothes some times they even take pictures for me.  Don't sell yourself short, find a make up gal and work on feminizing yourself you may be quite surprised   Good luck and keep your head up and arms swinging just like any woman would do.

That is correct at least for time being. I would like to dress as a traditional woman, i.e. in a dress in my case a skirt or mini, panties, bra, blouse, and appropriate footwear. No make up no wig. I adore and like the feel of wearing women's clothing, styles and vibrate colors! I've often been told by women and men alike that I have legs most women would dye for and cute buns included! So yes, a retired man,slender and 5'3" tall "rocking" women's attire.

Thanks for the comments! I guess I responded to the forum, I'm still not real adept at navigating around this site! lol

I'll try to clarify some things about myself. I'm very very new to crossdressing, so new in fact, I haven't had to do my first laundry yet! Honestly, I hadn't given my goal of going out in public a great deal of thought, which in retrospect is not a very wise thing to do! But, back to the clarification. I want to go public in dress or women's clothing just as I would in my regular men's daily attire, no makeup or wig just a skirt n blouse, panties, bra, stockings and appropriate shoes.

That is about it. I'm certainly open to suggestions for more experienced dressers which is why I'm here.

Your thinking as revised is not unusual. There are many of us, myself included, who wear women's clothing even when presenting as male. In my case, I wear panties daily anr half my shorts, jeans, and trousers are technically women's styles. I also frequently wear my heels, flats, and sandals with the corresponding level of dress. Other than a few comments that my shoes are cute, no one has really said anything.  In my experience, it is often about your confidence. If you want to talk in greater detail, feel free to PM me.

Thank you so much for your prompt rely! And yes it would be delightful to pm you. I wear panties daily, no more men's drab undies for me, ever! In addition to my panty collection which I adore, I also wear bras n camies under my men's shirts. Admittedly, my panties were sexy skimpy and I'm now adding more lacy comfortable ones!
I was wondering about when you go "out" do you wear makeup n wig?

As my circumstances are somewhat similar, going out in public, I'm eagerly listening to the girls with a whole lot more experience than me.

I am staring with some small steps. My legs are shaved and smooth, and since it's hot where I live, I wear shorts with a 6" inseam. So my legs are obvious. I've been doing this for so long it's now my natural m.o.

Recently, I've started to wear some sheer thigh highs in public when I'm in shorts. So far, no one seems to have noticed. Like you, I enjoy vibrant colors and will switch from my tan hiking-style shorts to more reds, pinks, greens, etc. Will also wear my thigh highs more and more when out.

Lastly, as I get better at makeup, I plan to wear more obvious lipstick, foundation, and light eye make up while out as a man. Sort of an androgynous state. Also want to show off my nails with some color that's not to loud.

i don't know how far I'll go, but my confidence gets better each day in public.

However your own journey goes, the girls and me are right here with you. They've been incredible for me. In CDH you're never alone and you're always accepted.
