I’m Lea and I just joined. I’m grateful and thoroughly excited to discover this community and all you lovely girls. Suddenly I don’t feel so alone!
One of my fondest memories was when I was five and put on my first pair of tights for St. Patrick’s day as part of my leprechaun costume. It was if a spark ignighted gasoline and I exploded into dancing happily around the room with more verve than I ever had. That is my first memory of Lea and I was transformed forever.
I’m fortunate I can dress as I wish around the house. I’ve been getting more comfortable going outside and being seen as a woman, which is a whole other level.

I notice there are several girls here from the lower mainland. I’d love to get the girls together for fun and camaraderie. How about a clothing swap and trading beauty tips? Having not grown up female we missed out on what most girls learned about how to present themselves.

I'm a mature crossdresser I've been dressing most of my life since i was about 8 or 9 years old when i tried my older sister's lingerie on I'm still in the closet to my family,

Welcome to CDH. I love your description of how you reacted to that first pair of tights at age 5! I was a similar age when I pulled on a pair of my mum's for the first time. I didn't get the time to dance around the room, because mum caught me with her tights still only halfway up my legs.

My 4-year-old self had been watching a comedy programme on TV, in which the main character had been forced to disguise himself as a woman (with hilarious consequences).
Shortly after the programme ended I was in my mum's bedroom and opening a drawer. The first item I saw was a pair of tights, so I took them out and began pulling them on like I would a pair of trousers.
My mum had noticed my disappearance from the living room and no doubt had heard her dressing table drawer being opened - it was quite noisy.
Her exact words when she found me were, "What are you doing? My best tights!" I wasn't sure if she was angry, surprised, amused, worried or afraid. Or maybe all the above.
My mum removed her best tights quickly but carefully from my legs, and we never spoke of it again. But the CD gene had kicked in, and lay dormant for several years.
What did I carry from being caught? That it was "wrong" for me to wear women's clothes, and that if I ever did it again I would have to do it in secret.
Incidentally, if anyone's curious, the TV show was The Clitheroe Kid.
I have been reading scientific literature about why we might be the way we are. I’ll write it up and post it. It’s really fascinating that there are valid reasons why most of us feel as if there’s a woman trapped in our bodies. It’s sad how we have been shamed and humiliated for something that may be natural and well explained by genetics and human development and has led some cross dressers and trans people to suicide. I’m so happy we have community here where we can feel accepted and supported.

*Starts to relax a little now that the threat of bourbons has passed, but is wondering why Jacqueline has QUITE so many biscuits*
[Puts some Custard Creams on a plate, then moves to another large pantry cupboard. This one is labelled 'Coffee']
What would you like? Flat white? Americano? Latte? Cappucino? Mocha? Espresso?
[Notices Ellie's eyebrow twitching, and gives her a reassuring smile]
I always say you can never have too many biscuits in. Help yourself. They're all zero calorie.
*Ellie is beginning to get a definite 'Gingerbread House' vibe. A pantry labelled 'Biscuits?' - which are all zero calorie? A separate pantry labelled 'Coffee'?' She looks nervously at the Aga - which seems suspiciously large - and starts planning potential escape routes.*
'Milk, no sugar please'.
*Trying not to attract attention, Ellie bends down and tightens the laces on her running shoes*.
[Jacqueline giggles]
No sugar? I should say not! You're quite sweet enough as you are!

*Ellie's senses are now on high alert, and she can feel adrenalin beginning to kick in. She decides not to risk sipping the coffee*
No ... it's just ... can I use your bathroom?
*Perhaps, she thinks, it will have a window large enough to escape through*

She was now cursing herself for her lack of resolve; it was the smell of biscuits that had interrupted her run and put her in this situation in the first place. She smiled ruefully. At least her leopard-print Nike Lunargides would allow her to make a swift getaway ... should she ever get the chance*

While I’m here can I have a latte and a packet of chocolate hob nobs please.
A whole packet may seem a little excessive, but I have been riding a bike today, albeit in a nice warm gym and not outdoors in the current bloody atrocious weather we’re having, but nonetheless, I feel as if I need some calories.
And also, there was no mention of cake……..

If you get inside and see a trail of chocolate hobnobs leading towards the oven, don't even hesitate.

Of course you can have a latte, Lucy! And please help yourself to the chocolate sprinkles. The Hobnobs, like all the biscuits here, are zero calorie. But they do taste scrumplicious.
[Jacqueline does a double-take at the sight of Ellie stuffing her face with the cake that had been hidden under a bra in the pantry]
@jacquelinelarkspur No calories? Are you our fairy god mother Jacqueline? Could I swap the hobnobs for cashew nuts and swap the latte for a glass of Chablis, could I also have these from the zero calories section? (or would this be venturing into the adult version of the story?). I’m wearing heels and can’t run away so fast

I must say Lea that you have stimulated the most interesting discourse as a newcomer here on CDH. Welcome, and as you already know, there are many smart, fun and compassionate folks here. Enjoy the journey. From Marg, a full time intersex person who does not consume biscuits or latte but does pizza and beer and carries a chainsaw and wears Wolverines (but I do change, clean up and wear a LBD with heels when going out).
