I've been away at a show for the past 5 days. Some of my friends were also there. They knew about my crossdressing, but had never met Cerys. I travelled to the show as Cerys. We arrived at our campsite early evening, set up the motorhome and made a pot of tea. After the tea, we thought we'd have a wander around the showground. The show was due to start properly on saturday, but many of the exhibitors and stalls etc were already set up. We found where our friends were exhibiting, and stopped to say hello. My friends Steve, saw me and smiled. I asked what he thought. His reply "Not as bad as I thought it would be. not bad at all"... We talked for a while and headed back to our motorhome. The next day, we had another walk around. Our exhibit was due on display until Saturday, se we had lots of spare time. We stopped at our other friends catering stall. The man of the couple as a big "manly" man. Ex farm worker, builds motorbikes.  His partner is an ex social worker and has dealt with many different different people with all sorts of problems. I asked the man what he thought of "the other me". His answer surprised me. "All I want to know is, do you still drink cider?" I replied "Yes, of course".... "well, that's all that matters to me"... The next day, we stopped by again to get breakfast after delivering my exhibit to it's section. I was tucking in to a bacon and sausage roll when he came up to me and said "You're not eating that in a very ladylike manner". This was when I knew for certain that he was OK with how I was dressed.
For two days of the show, I dressed in male clothing to please my wife. On the last day, I wa back in Cerys mode, and stopped to see my friends Steve again. We talked for ages about a problem Steve has. I gave him some advice on how to fix it. Steve stopped talking and said "You know what I noticed about how you are dressed? No one cares. No one gives you a second look. No one says anything. Everyone I've seen you talking to hasn't cared. No one cares."  He went on to say that he was worried about me turning up dressed as a woman at a steam rally as he thought I'd get abuse, or ridiculed. He thought that I'd get embarrassed. He was totally amazed by how little anyone cared. He was surprised by how it was accepted. I'm obviously a man dressed as a woman. From a distance, I look the part, but get closer and I'm obviously male. No one cares. The section leader commented when she first saw Cerys "You look different today". She didn't care.
I was worried about what some of my friends might think. I was very happy that they didn't care. It's just what I do. It makes me happy. It doesn't change who I am. I still drink cider!
I'm Cerys, and I'm a cider drinker!

@dazzler

That has been my experience also.  No one seems to care about how I am dressed also. I have been going to my Church as Cassie since September. EVERYONE has been so tolerant.

Hoping you and your family all the best.

@dazzler Well done! The friends I have as Anna are all people who know me as Anna (very short list) rather than me in drab. So I suppose I'm still firmly in the closet.
