Hi Girls,

I would like to share some of my experiences today of a lovely day out.

I got up early, before seven, so I could take my time getting ready and not have to rush my make-up. I haven't lived in this neighborhood all that long, however, I have been out in full view walking to my car dressed to go out and about which is what I did this time.

When I arrived at my destination, I had lunch at my usual restaurant, then a mooch around the book shelves in Value Village, one of a chain of thrift stores. I came across another Robert Ludlum hardback, first edition as well, so I bought that.
After that, I went to Winners which is a discount store chain. I bought a new skirt in there which I was very excited to try on again when I got home. I bought a new top and bra at Mark’s Work Wearhouse after that. The top is a light beige colour that goes well with the skirt. My new bra is beige as well, for obvious reasons.
I will post a photo of me wearing that outfit at a later date.

For my day out, I went to the city I used to go to before I moved. Where I live now is a small city of around twenty thousand people, a rural city with a definite farming base. I haven’t been out and about here as yet, however, when I got back I decided to go to the liquor store. When I went in there was a guy on duty who has served me numerous times. He gave a smile of greeting when I walked in and when I approached the counter he greeted me in his normal way. There is no doubt that he knew who I was. Anyway, I told him that I had one of the discount cards but didn’t have it with me. I applied for this over a month ago with my legal surname and Lynne as my first name. The young woman on duty at the time didn’t bat an eyelid and her only comment was to ask about the spelling.
Well, the guy at the counter today said he could look the card up if I would give him my name. Surname first so I did that then, after some scrolling, asked my first name.
”Lynne,” says I and again, without batting an eyelid, he just put the sale through.
I didn’t get any unusual looks walking from the car and back either.
When I got home I boldly got out of the car, the same way as I had boldly got into the car this morning, and walked up the path carrying my shopping and with my shoulder bag over my shoulder.

My outfit today was a black Shamballa flared skirt with a scarlet short-sleeved summer top. I wore a black sleeveless top underneath, both being of a very light fabric. I really enjoy the way the hem of that skirt bounces around when I walk. The hem of the skirt comes down to between mid-thigh and knees. I have two other skirts of the same type, one other black one and one white. My girl wardrobe is getting quite full now.

Well, that was my day out today and I hope you all enjoyed my telling of it.

Hugs,

Lynne

Hi, Lynne, thanks for sharing your day. What is striking is the normal-ness, normalcy, normality...oh, you know what I mean! A perfectly unremarkable day that women do without thinking about it.😊

That's the beauty of this place, all our lives are shared here, all the joys and all the frustrations and are all met with understanding and care. Love it!

May you enjoy many more unremarkable days like this one, Lynne.

Thank you, Allie.

Last year I had a few days in the mountains and, apart from wearing skirt outfits, make-up and the usual girl about town fashions, the days went by just like any other day in the mountains. What I mean is the same experiences I would have had had I gone in guy mode. Apart from feeling much better about myself that is.

Great day, Lynne.  I think that such a day can be the normal for many of us.  I live in a small town of 1300 people and have been presenting as Cassie full time almost all the time.  On Sundays (like today) I have been wearing a dress to Church, then wearing this dress all day.  Today I wore a nice sun dress.  After I got home I went for a walk around town (about 2+ miles).  Then my granddaughter called and we went shopping for a birthday gift for her mother.  Next we went out to eat. All day NO ONE questioned me on my dress or even looked twice at me.  I think I "pass" on first glance and anyone who 'clocks' me is nice and doesn't bring it up.  I know so  many of us love wearing a nice dress, I figure on Sundays when a lot of GG's wear a nice dress is the perfect time to go out that way.

That is why when I go out to take care of a couple of things I will probably wear a nice top and either jeans or leggings.

Hope you have many more great days, Lynne.

Thank you, Cassie.

As yet I don't have any dresses as I prefer skirt outfits. However, I did notice several summer dresses that I imagined wearing today. Sleeveless, down to mid-thigh with floral patterns.

I am due to have my legs waxed again soon so maybe I will look at dresses then when I can go bare legs.

The ones that look as if they came from the 1950s?

I actually got to compliment a woman wearing one, recently. Put a smile on her face.

Yes, they do have that look about them. It seems if you keep a garment long enough eventually it will come back into fashion.

@denimwear Yes, I know a newscaster who wears some vintage clothing. She wore one of those white/flower dresses, yesterday.

@denimwear Isn't it just so wonderful when you can come and go from your house en femme as easily and confidently as in drab.  And when people in your home town who may have seen you in drab, don't even give a flicker of surprised reaction when you present another aspect of yourself.  A lovely account of your day out honey, thank you for sharing it 🙂

Hi Fiona,

After coming in with my shopping I went back to the car again to get my evening refreshments from the trunk. As you say, it does feel really good to be able to do that.

Hi Lynne, that was a wonderful account of a lovely day out; thanks you for sharing it with us. Like many here, you are finding that most people are just so accepting and don't seem to be at all concerned about what we wear.

This morning I was out and about with my wife in the mall we often visit. Are usual I was fully crossdressed. We were chatting with one of the men who helps keep the mall clean when one of his female colleagues came up to us and said to him "I see you are chatting up the ladies again Mark!". I didn't think I passed too well, but it was lovely to hear that.

When we got home my wife noticed a lorry parked down the lane close to our house. In her usual inquisitive and helpful manner she went out to ask the occupants if everything was OK. "Just stopped here for our lunch break" they said. "Well, just let us know if you want anything" was my wife's reply. We thought nothing more of it until 10 minutes later there was a knock at the door which I answered, still fully crossdressed. Big beefy chap from the lorry asked if I could refill his flask with tea, so I invited him in and we stood chatting in the kitchen while preparing the tea. Now I am sure I can't really pass - he surely knew I was male. But there was not a flicker of recognition, acknowledgement, anything. It was all treated as perfectly everyday and acceptable.

It seems that some things in the world are changing for the better.

Hi Becky,

It sounds like you had a really good day out as well are in a good situation.

It could well be that you pass much better than you think.

@denimwear This sounds wonderful and very inspiring, possibly something I should aim for. Whilst there are some shops I buy Anna stuff from, I go there in drab but the shopkeepers know about Anna and are happy to help. I envy you getting to go out as Lynne into shops and even to and from your house to your car.

Hugs,

Anna

Hi Anna,

It took me some time to gain the confidence I have now. It seems that the urge to do this is much too strong to ignore.

You are welcome, Gisela. I haven't submitted any forum posts for several months, however, I do like recounting the days I go out and about.

Just another day in paradise! A nice day out for you and it shows that people aren't judgmental , even in the dreaded 'rural' areas where we perceive hostility.

It is clear you look good and as I say, a sale is a sale to shops.

Hi Angela,

Perhaps our perception of rural areas is flawed but, if so, it seems we all share that same feeling. Up until February of this year I lived in a small village, population less than one thousand. At first I was afraid to be seen leaving and returning to the house enfemme, however, due to a combination of growing confidence and also being tired of hiding I started to come and go freely. Also, I started going to the post office on my way out of town to pick up my mail. One morning, after much deliberation beforehand, I went into the actual post office part to talk to the postmistress who I had known for years. I said something about wanting to show her my new outfit and she just smiled and said that it was lovely. After doing this for some time I decided to go into the pharmacy one afternoon when I arrived back in town. No-one said anything or even looked surprised. One morning one of the ladies from the bookstore smiled and spoke to me when we met on the street, so it seems my fear of being seen in the village was unjustified.

@denimwear That is so lovely to read Lynne. I know from experience how hard it is to come out, be seen then to engage. It is amazing how much acceptance there is out there no matter how small a town it is. Once that confidence builds then it comes naturally although there may be the odd kickback you just have to keep going.

Lynne -

What a lovely day for you out and about. What a nice experience for you at the  liquor store, kind of proves that most people don't care. Hope you are able to get out and aobut again soon.

XOXO

Nice story Lynne. It gets easier every time you go out, as you are discovering.
