I had a dream day today, mingling with the Christmas shopping crowds in full makeup and a sweater dress and blazer ensemble that looked like I just left the office. I even spritzed on some Halle Berry fragrance so I smelled right too! I sniffed scents at Bath & Body Works, examined the lighting fixtures at Home Depot, gazed at the holiday treats in the grocery store deli, and of course did some clothes shopping. I found a fabulous coat at J.C. Penney and tried it on, but as I didn't have enough cash on hand and my credit cards are in my drab name, I will go back tomorrow and get it. I took a selfie trying on a burgundy scarf that is my new profile picture. This isn't my first such outing, I do this occasionally as I have the time, the courage, and am satisfied with my makeup application.
The only thing I didn't do was pick up a ship to store item at Wal-Mart - the customer service line was very long and I didn't want to stand immobile in close proximity to folks for a long time. However, I plan to go out again tonight, and if that line is short, I will have to interact with sales clerks. Stay tuned...
Julie It's enjoyable to hear about your Christmas ventures. It must be exhilarating to be en femme and to interact in public. I personally have not been out in public but I do love hearing stories like yours as it gives me the confidence in time to be able to do so. An adventure that I'm really looking forward in doing . As many of our ladies have mentioned it's an experience where memories are made. Thank you for sharing. 🌹
Went out Christmas shopping in leggings. So much fun
To continue the story, I went back to Wal-Mart tonight to pick up the item I had shipped to the store. This time I walked the one mile both ways in the balmy central Illinois weather, which gave me plenty of practice with my feminine walk in my three-inch wedge, knee-high boots. Alas, when I got there at 8:30 p.m., the store pickup area had closed (note to self: read the clearly listed hours of operation on the emailed pickup notice). So I was left with no alternative but to roam the store and browse anything that caught my eye.
These en femme shopping forays are exciting and challenging. I've got the look and the walk down, except upon close inspection, but I definitely don't have a feminine voice figured out. So I've had to master the art of appearing to be leisurely shopping while constantly making sure I don't get too close to other shoppers for too long. From above I must look like a slow-motion rat in a maze. It must work, though, because I've only been "made" a few times, and I've frequently been the recipient of lascivious looks (real women may hate those, but I love them).
I'm now back to drab, except for the light mauve fingernail polish. I have so much trouble getting nail polish to look right that when it works well I like to keep it. So when I go to the health club in the morning with painted nails, I plan to say: "When my granddaughter paints my nails she expects me to keep her handiwork." It's lie, but it should keep the dumbbells from flying in my direction.
