Friends,
I’ll keep this short, because I don’t think my experience was particularly unique, but I did FINALLY get out in public for the first time on Thursday! I went to my regularly scheduled counseling session dressed as Marcellette and it was quite an experience for me - exciting and terrifying at the same time!
Had a lot more people see me than planned because of an unexpected event (last day of pre-school) at the office complex where my counselor’s office is located and there were so many people in the parking lot as a result. But somehow I made the walk (in my 4 inch black heels) in front of all the waiting parents and into the office - physically trembling by the time I got through the door. My counselor was fabulous and put me at ease quickly, and I felt a lot more confident on the way out than I did on the way in! She was the also the first person I have ever interacted with face-to-face when dressed, and I was so self-conscious the whole time I was talking with her even though she really was assuring and complimentary.
Not sure if I’ll do it again or not, but I’m happy that I found the courage to do it at least once and I thank all of you for that! I felt really good about it all when I got back to the car and took my commemorative selfie (I posted it)!
It is your stories and encouragement that enabled me to take that big step - so THANK YOU!
Marcellette
Marcellette, that is fantastic! So very, very happy to hear this. Thank you for sharing your joy and your success. When we celebrate our triumphs, and even our trials, we pay it forward in ways we may not even be aware of.
Best,
Clara
Marcellette,
Wow. Well done! I'm especially impressed that you had the presence of mind to catch a selfie too !

Awesome Marci!

Marcellette,
Thanks for sharing your story. You didn’t let the unexpected crowd stopped you and did it in 4 inch heels, amazing courage. I have not ventured out the front door yet. My situation is a bit more complicated, not only that I am scare to death but also my wife does not want me to step out, risking me being out or to having to deal with the consequences. Reading your success story inspires me to overcome my own fear, I will be one step closer to stepping out into the world. Well done!

And now YOUR story will give encouragement to the NEXT lady who needs to take that same Big Step. Thank you for sharing, Sweetie, and I'm glad it was such a grand experience.
Thanks for sharing, not sure which shows more courage, the first time out or 4” heels, either way 🎉🎈!
🎀 you go girl!! 🌸
Congrats and thank you for sharing truly inspiration for yourself and many others to go forward with their journey.

Congratulations on you day. You found out that all the fear you had was really unfounded. Your counselor then put you at ease didn't she?
You are so right, reading so many success stories here helps give the courage, if they can do it so can you. I know it was that way for me. It was close to 10 months ago that I worked up the courage to go in fem to Ulta and have my hair colored. We can hope your story will be the one for someone else here to take their next big step to go out!!!
