My wife is away overnight again, just the one night this time.
I wait for darkness to fall and I step through the door. There is a pic of the outfit in the photos section. At the end of my road there are two lads. It looks like they might be doing a drug deal. Whilst I live in an OK area, mainly middle classed, there are lot of less fortunate folk around and they need a little help getting through their days...
Anuhoo, I digress... To hide my hairy, kanckered looking face, I put my facemask on. I pass these two lads without incident, but as I turn the corner onto the main raod the wind blows my mask off. One of the loops had snapped and the other wasn't properly around my ears to my hair. The mask fell, and blew into a puddle from an earlier shower.
I retrieved it but it was useless, and wet. This meant that I had a near 3 mile walk without my safety net. I could have turned and gone home but decided to press on as tonight is the last chance I'll get for a while as my wife is not away again for some time. The walk was uneventful other than a lady walking her dog was blocking the pavement as she was picking up the dog's doings. She said hello' and I made a fuss of the dog. We past comment on the weather, and what dog it was, and went on our separate ways... No mention at all as to why I was dressed as a women.
I might have got tooted and whistled at, but I doubt it was for me.... The car was coming from behind me. The driver will have only seen my legs, skirt and jacket.... I didn't look around to see if there was anyone else to have gotten the attention. It was peak jogger time.
Two thirds of the way through my loop the heavens opened. My pace quickened, but by the time I got back home I was drenched. My jumper was saoked, my boots were soaked, and my tights were soaked.
So I'm home, I've changed into a denim skirt and sweatshirt, lit a fire and made a pot of tea which is brewing whilst I type this. My last time out for a while. I'm happy!
Seems like you and Grace both needed to listen to Carol Kirkwood. You both persevered and did what you set out to do apart from the drying process after...
When Carol is on the telly, I don't hear a thing she says 😉
I knew the weather was coming in, but it was a fair bit earlier than I thought.
I haven't read Grace's post, I'll go and find it 🙂
