I wear clip on earrings. These days, I tend not to buy clip ons. I buy normal "pierced" earrings and use adapters. On Saturday, a new set of 5 pairs arrived. Tonight, I went upstairs to get dressed and thought I'd try the new earrings. I chose the pair I wanted to wear.
The next thing I knew, I'm looking in the mirror with the shaft of an earring pressed against my earlobe.... The temptation to push it through was huge. Three things stopped me.
1) I'd have to get both sides balanced.
2) My wife would kill me.
3) Infection.
I came so close. It's a good job that I don't drink that often these days. If' I'd have "had a few" I might not have stopped.
Whilst I'm glad that I stopped, part of me wishes I hadn't.

I couldn't do the DIY method, it had been offered.
I was set to have mine pierced just as shops and things went into lockdown round 1, now that things have eased a bit I'll try to put it back in the schedule.
ouch glad you stopped could have caused some major infections. Myself fixing to give up clip on and get my ears pierced as soon can get someone to do them. Really don't know what doing best to get it done.
DIY - very 80s! The old ice cube and potato technique was all the rage back then. Although my holes are long since closed up... Ooo Err.
Saying that, Facebook market place is awash with new fancy ear piercing widgets at the moment, very easy (and safe) to do at home.

My wife did mine many years ago, it was a very inexpensive spring loaded devise around $5 and painless
