Sunday after visiting family, I decided to go to a shoe store. This is the first for me doing my makeup in the van of a parking lot, before going in. Not really sure if or when anxiety want be a problem. After my makeup i changed shoes. Then i sat watching the store contemplating going in. I felt like i was casing the place for a robbery, checking out whos coming and going. This was a different setting for me. I've only gone to stores more geared for women, where most of customers, well women. Finally got the nerve to go in,so i did. It wasn't that bad after all. I didn't get any strange looks .Plus they had huge mirrors , so quick makeup check "Score" I did pretty well using the vanity mirror in the van . Found my way to clearance rack and tried on a few pair of ankle boots in which i did purchase a pair. Like i need anymore boots "Someone stop me"! Anyway the only thing awkward was the long line but i managed. Looking forward to getting out again but not buying anything else.🤫 Who am i kidding.

Happy for you in having that experience.
My wife and I were out one day and talking about Suzanne. I mentioned that the heels I have are a bit big. We were passing a shoe store and she pulled into the parking lot. We went in and started looking at shoes. I found a pair in my size and she had me try them on. There were other people in the store but no one seemed to pay any attention. I also tried on a pair of ankle boots. We bought both pair. It was a fun experience. I was in drab when we did that.
XOXO

I envy the girls who can just walk and/or pull in to any old shoe store and buy shoes that fit.
I have -wide- feet, and when it comes to shoes, other than sandals, I am pretty well limited to shopping at Torrid, where they sell true wide width shoes, that comfortably fit girls who have wide feet, at reasonable prices.
In some instances, I have found shoes at Goodwill, but that is a rare find. There are on line companies that cater to girls with wide feet, but it is a crap shoot, and they are expensive. Walmart has ballet flats in true wide width in multiple colors, but they sell out quickly every year.
As far as being self-conscious in a shoe store, no one is looking. People are way too involved in finding what they are looking for.
