I buy a lot of stuff from BooHoo. This is delivered by Hermes. The chap that comes to my part of Cardiff is a taxi driver earning a bit of extra cash. He's been here many times and all but a couple of times I have been dresses en femme.
Today, I saw him pull up put side, but he went next door first. He went back to his car and got my package out. As he approached the house I opened the door. He had difficulty scanning the parcel, so there was a little delay. He scanned and approached. I was obviously dressed as a woman, as I have been many times before. We laughed about his phone being ancient.. As he was about to leave he said "thank you.... " there was a pause, and he continued "... sir?". I said "definitely sir, I'm just a bit weird".
No fuss, no bother. He cheerfully went on his way after taking the proof of delivery pic.
I get a fair bit of stuff delivered to the house, and I usually answer the door en femme. This is only the second time that I have had proper interaction regarding my appearance with the delivery person, and on both occasions they have been absolutely fine. Completely non plussed about it. This is giving me hope that one day, everybody will see us as just people. I think we're getting there!
