I had an interesting Friday and weekend. On Friday our district held a meeting on Social Emotional Learning - with an emphasis on inclusion for LGBTQ. It hit really close to home when we were talking about safe spaces for students who are questioning their identity. Where is the safe space for adults who question our own identity.
I debated and debated again about telling our councilor, and finally when to her office and told her. It was somewhat of a relief to know that someone beyond my wife knew.
Which led to the other revel of the weekend, I told my son (12), and his reaction was priceless. He was like, "So? I don't even think I would have noticed, and if I saw you in a dress i would have asked." He knows that it is a private thing and that the only person allowed to tell others about it is me.
Knowing that I can be comfortable in my house is a great feeling. I cannot tell anybody who and when to come out, but I can say it has been a good experience so far. I still cannot come out in my community as it is not a safe place for adults who are not CIS.
