I have been fortunate enough to have several pairs of earrings that fit under my hearing protection when I am using my chainsaw. I have some drop earrings that work if I bend over and have my head upside down when I put the hearing protection on but I know some plugs would work with almost anything (plugs have some downsides).
But the BEST thing is that I ordered my uniforms recently. I can wear my skinny jeans all I want (probably leggings too) but I picked out neon pink for my work shirts. I also ordered some polo style shirts for non labor needs. The pink shirts were not gender specific but the polo’s were women’s cut. Our Senior Accounts Manager told me today that the uniform people said that someone ordered shirts that only came in women’s cut and she wanted to know if I would like my tee shirts in women’s cut. Obviously, I told her yes! It’s definitely working out well for me that I am out at work. I am sure that some of the people there aren’t trans friendly but it’s a government job and they really have to suck it up and deal with it. I will not censor myself to make them comfortable in their ignorance.
OUT AND PROUD
Mika I am so happy for you that your new job is working out. It is wonderful that you are able to be your true self and represent our community in such a positive and open fashion. I realize much is based on it being a government job and your gender identity is “protected” but it is still such a testament to your personal strength to be out and proud. I am very proud of you and your personal acceptance and expression of your true self. I wish you many years of success and happiness in your job.

Mika and Carolyne. So happy for you Mika everything is working out so great for you. And you are right Carolyn, being it is a government job it is protected. My job also (postal worker) is protected, but as long as I am working there I do not intend to fully come out. I don't want to put off any co-workers or my customers. I do believe some suspect something with my long hair and pierced ears.
Your story, Mika, makes me smile and gives us all hope.

Thank you, Carolyne and Sandy. I think my coworkers and some of the general public could be taken aback if I were out there in a skirt and heels with my subbly beard (I only shave when I am going out en femme). But it’s worth mentioning again for the girls that don’t know me well that such attire is impractical for my job doing trail maintenance. Wearing women’s cuts in my clothing will still be different for most of them to see but not so much that they might have a problem with it. This interim time, before the uniforms arrive, has been a good stepping stone to let them get used to my appearance. I still come in at the end of the day dirtier and sweatier than most of them even with my feminine touches. So, they see that my appearance doesn’t mean I work any less hard than they do.
Hugs!

How wonderful, Mika, I am so happy to hear the new job is going so well, and you are moving forward.
Stories such as yours, are what give us all hope for a brighter future.
Hugs, Regi👸💕
It’s been awesome
Thanks, Diane. It’s been so much fun!
Thanks, Regine. My wife had some reservations about me expressing my femininity so openly at work. But just as you pointed out, I told her that it would help make things better for others including our kid that’s also part of the LGBT+ community.
Thank you Mika for being brave enough to be yourself. You do all of us a service by presenting as female as possible in your daily life. The more exposure CD's can get the more understanding and acceptance will happen among the general population. We can show them that we are just people and nothing less by presenting as a female. You go girl!
So sweet of you, Michelle. Thank you.
