Soooo...I went out dressed for the first time tonight.
I needed to go shopping today, but also wanted to spend time in girl mode. I'm not quite ready for an entire shopping trip, so I decided to make an order online and go pick it up. I spent a while getting ready, complete with makeup, red nails, and DIY hip pads. When I was finished, I walked to the door of my apartment. I put my hand on the doorknob and stood for a few seconds. Gut check time. I wasn't worried about being in the car, but that first step out passing other apartments gave me pause. But I did it anyway. Hell, I'd taken the time to get ready and I looked good🙂 I walked to my car and brushed the snow off of the windows before getting in. I, Kendra, was really sitting there in my car. I enjoyed the drive to the curbside pickup spot, and when the employee came to the car, I told him to put the groceries in the back seat. I thanked him and drove out of the parking lot. Well, that wasn't bad at all!
I decided to grab dinner on the way home, so I went to Panda Express and ordered at the drive-through. I don't quite have a femme voice, but I did the best I could. I pulled to the window, paid, and got my food. The man at the window told me to have a good night and to stay warm, then I drove back home feeling very accomplished.
I had one more leg of the journey to finish as I carried the groceries and my supper back to my apartment. All went smoothly, and it felt so good to finally take this step. Granted, it was dark outside, but you gotta start somewhere. I'm excited about going out again, and I'm already thinking about where I'll go. Thank you to all of you for your support and this community, without whom it would have taken much longer to "level up."
Kendra
Congratulations and thank you for sharing your experience with your going out and about.
yes you are an inspiration for us girls who are insecure… thank you for sharing
Awesome! What a huge deal, Kendra! Congratulations on taking those steps into the wider world! I know I found that first step to be the hardest, but after that it got so much easier. So cool!
Kendra, in one sense I suppose you could call this a baby step. But in another very real sense, this is huge! I am so proud of you for having the courage to do this. I have every confidence that this is the beginning of more great things to come.
Everybody, Kendra has posted a couple of photos of how she looked that night. You can also see one of them in the featured photos. I invite you to take a look at them. She looks fantastic!
Judging from your pictures, it wasn't that big a deal. You are very passable. But congrats on mustering up the courage. You look great.
Try not to worry so much about it. Being too nervous, seems to bring on attention to yourself. Think of how a shoplifter acts. Just go about your business and do what you need to do.
Trust me, it gets easier every time. Congratulations.
Kendra -
Congratulations on having the courage to go out. Hope this is the first of many outings for you.

Fantastic, Kendra! I'm so pleased for you! It must have been such a thrilling, awesome experience. That "hand on the doorknob" moment is a huge one. I rarely get the chance myself, so congratulations to you on making the most of yours. You look great in your pics, too!
Oh, and now you can delete the last sentence in your bio!
Kendra, You did it !! Good for you. And none of the "prep time," makeup, hair etc went to waste!!
The first time is the most terrifying, it gets better - much better - the more you get out.
Congratulations on your success... Have fun.. Staci..
Yea good for you Kendra. The worse is behind you so now enjoy the experience. It's a wonderful thrill and journey
Well done Kendra, You looked good, felt good and it went good. It's always the step across the threshold and closing the door that is the hardest but once you start walking forward you can't stop and am sure you will be moving forward more from now on.
Inspirational stuff Kendra.
Good job Kendra! It may not seem like it but that's a huge accomplishment you made!
Also, you're gorgeous! your makeup skills seasoned.
