If you have a Chase card..it’s easy to add your girl self as a user. I did it with my Marriott card and I love using it !

Valerie, I don’t know if you’ve seen my reply to Jennifer’s forum post today, where I told this story. But early in my tenure here at CDH, a photo you posted really inspired me. It was your photo from March 9, and you were in a department store dressing room, trying on new clothes. I had only begun to think about going out in public as Angela, but lacked the confidence. And when I saw that wonderful photo, I was so envious of you. So much in awe of your courage, wishing ever so much that I could some day do such a thing myself. And in the subsequent weeks, with all the love and support I received from everyone at CDH, I eventually found the courage I needed. Fast forward to today. I posted a photo of me in a Torrid dressing room, trying on a beautiful dress that I saw in the store. Thank you Valerie, and thanks to all if the wonderful ladies of CDH who have supported me, encouraged me, and inspired me.
Actually, my credit card is a Chase card. So thanks for the tip. I’ll explore that.
Well, J. C. Penney is the “Golden Rule Store” glad to read of yours living up to the name.

I have to start by saying I don't go out en femme so I'm not speaking from experience in that regard.
When I go shopping and use either my debit or credit card it is either inserted into the machine or scanned with the new touchless system. Even on home delivery they have a machine they bring with them to swipe your card. I honestly can't remember the last time I handed my card to someone at a register.
XOXO

OMG Angela that is so sweet and kind of you to say! I have a tear in my eye! And I am so happy for you on so many levels!!
I am curious as to why you were asked for ID. Even when I worked cash, I can't remember asking for IDs.
My alternate theory is that perhaps she instinctively felt that there was something “not quite right” about me. And considering that, technically, I was disguising my true appearance, on that level perhaps she was justified. Some people have that kind of radar. But the reality is that I’ll never know why she asked me for my ID. And it all worked out well, so I have no complaints.
Cool, Angela! I'm often carded when I go clubbing., but it's never been an issue. Last year, I had ordered a denim jacket from Old Navy, I had to stop by the store to pick it up-- and I was fully en femme. The cashier needed to see my ID to prove the jacket was mine. She looked at it & asked if this was my husband's driver's license. Did she know? Don't know, but she gave me the jacket.
My one and only brush with "see your ID" - as I chronicled it in my blog Julie Out And About.

Wonderful story Angela, I have only been shopping once as Julie. I did not buy anything. But in male mode I bought a dress and the sales lady said that it was such a pretty dress, I said I look forward to wearing it, she did give me a look but not a bad look just a surprised look. I go shopping for all manner of women's things and I am getting a lot more comfortable doing it.
I went shopping at Goodwill in drab and bought four dresses. And didn’t give it a second thought.
But did you really tell the sales lady you were looking forward to wearing the dress?
Hats off to you, milady!
Wait, so I could get another card with my femme name on it? Even if Nancy doesn’t have any id or proof that I even exist?
Nancy
Yes, Nancy, depending on the bank and the state/province or country where you live. There are rules, so call your bank. You might have to show up in person.
You can search for a recent discussion here about this.
Hi Nancy,
Nancy sure can! Call your bank that sends you the monthly credit card bill and hit 0 to speak to a customer rep. Tell the agent you want to add an authorized user to your credit card. The agent will ask for the social security number, name, date of birth, relationship and perhaps a few more questions. Just say you’re a crossdresser and want a second card for shopping. No need to be nervous or flustered. Just think about how much fun Nancy will have shopping. The bank has done this before and gets a percentage of your purchase each time you use the card.
