Hi Carla.  It looks like you dodged a bullet.  I have never liked on line dating since you have no idea if the person on the other end is lying to you, as this person did to you.  Sometimes some real predators use social media to find their victims.  Probably best to meet people face to face.  Just my two cents.

I agree with Gina, there's a lot of nut jobs out there and you've got to be careful. I've been raped twice in my life and beaten up a couple of times, so as I say be careful.

Though the concerns outlined have merit, meeting someone online is not wrong. I met my wife online, and for both us, it was truly love at first sight as we have recently celebrates our tenth anniversary.

That being said, we were both cautious. My wife chose not disclose her cell phone until after we met, and we did choose to meet in a public venue.

Lastly, we are not only members of our families who have had success online. Both my brother and my wife's sister meet their spouses online.

Carla; IMHO it's never a good idea to meet a person you've only talked to on-line at his place for the first meeting. Meet in a public place to get to know him first.

Yep you really got lucky. It could have ended badly. I can't count how many times I've been propositioned online. Thankfully my radar hasn't failed me yet. I was still attending my local support group when I expressed to one of my girlfriends that I wanted to start dating. She introduced me to 2 of her male friends. The first one was short lived but the second one was an amazing long term relationship. He was a wonderful loving gentleman who treated me like a princess.
