The first thing I decided to buy dressed in drab was fingernail polish. I figure most people wouldn't think anything about it. After all, the metrosexual fad is still fairly recent. I went into this drug store. Their nail polish was scattered all over the cosmetic section. So, I had to walk all over the area to compare prices and colors. I wasn't there for longer than a minute. I keep hearing a P.A. message that says, "I see you in the cosmetic area." The cashier kept playing that message over and over again for the whole time I was there. Then I started getting chased by a plain clothes security officer who was about three times my size. He was very tall and very wide. Me? Not so much.
Well, I got the last laugh. The security guard followed me to the check out line. I saw his mouth gaped open in disbelief that I wasn't planning on leaving the line. The cashier's reaction was even better. Since, she was the one who kept pushing the button for that P.A. announcement. It got better when I pulled out my store employee card to get a discount. Her face turned red and she started to stammer through the rest of the transaction.
Today, I am using those products to paint my nails for the first time. I liked how they look, but I really need the practice.
Good for you, Jamie.
Jamie. I am so sorry that you were subjected to such harassment. Here in Canada you could get the cashier and security guy fired and loose his license for that. I worked for Wells Fargo Security and same may apply there but different states have different regulations, so check it out. Your treatment was disgraceful and if I were you....I would twitter/facebook that store for their policies. But, then you did say you worked for them???? At least talk to the manager...you cannot be fired for that. Lady Veronica
Very good on the way you handle yourself, there's not need for that nonsense. These people need to be educated. Very happy ending. 🌹
I do work for them. So, I know what they did crossed the line. I am guessing they have a lot of problem with theft. They got a little overzealous with loss prevention. I don't believe they were being bigoted.
Jamie, Thank you for the interesting story. I also shop in drab. My first purchase was panties. I'm so thankful for self check-out lanes. You said you work for the company of the store you went to. I take it you don't work at that store and you work at another one. I guess that's why the cashier didn't recognize you and called you out over the P.A. system, which was unprofessional to do. Nice to hear that you made them feel just as uncomfortable as they tried to make you.
Thank you, Brittney. Wow! I wrote that post two years ago. It still resonant with people.
My second feminine purchase was panties. I went to a mall on the edge of town that I rarely shop at. The two women working there was courteous and professional. The cashier was even try to plus sale me. (encouraging me to buy more)
Now, I have been out for a year and a half. I am on HRT. I am very happy now.
Dear Jamie; I started visiting this site earlier this year and read this post and all the forums. A member of my CD/TG support group is also a CDH member and because of her I decided to join CDH. Since I joined on 8/1, I've decided to go back and re-read all the forums and thank everyone for their comments and offer my own positive feedback and support. I'm grateful for this site and everyone on it, as it has helped me branch out socially. Congrats on your HRT. I hope your life is continuing well.
