Many of you are undoubtedly familiar with the scene in the movie White Christmas when the Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye characters, Wallace and Davis, reprise the song, Sisters, with some feminine panache in a 50s nightclub. While still dressed as guys, they pull up their trousers and sing and dance with large feathered fans while mimicking the female leads’ version of the routine seen earlier in the movie. A wonderful bit of theatrical camp.
As it happens, a local high school is putting on a production of this show, and my wife and I are good friends with the choreographer. He and good GG friend/supporter of local theater are two people I came out to about my dressing a couple months ago. (My intuition rang true and I now have more friends I can go out with dressed – yay!). During the dress rehearsals leading up to opening night, the choreographer was looking for a way to spice up the Wallace and Davis Sisters scene, and thought it would be great to find the boys some heels to wear. The choreographer initially inquired with our GG friend, who gladly offered up several of here size 11s heels for the boys to try. Unfortunately, the heels were too small and the last dress rehearsal was fast approaching on the next day. The GG friend must’ve recalled me enthusiastically describing my shoe collection, which was greatly expanded during the Pay Less going-out-of-business sale earlier this year, and suggested the choreographer reach out to my wife about borrowing some of my size 12s. (I know, a lady isn’t supposed to tell her age or her shoe size, LOL…I do have some lovely 11Ws that fit great ,BTW… easier to train my waist than my feet, though.)
So I receive an unexpected text from my wife at work asking if it would be OK for her to drop off two pairs of my black heels with the choreographer that afternoon for the lead boys to tryout during the last dress rehearsal before opening night. Not the kitten heels, but the tall ones. I said that would be fine, but I would need replacements if anything bad happened to them during the show —so more shoe shopping trips are on the line if any damage occurs with my loaned-out heels 😉. She picked out two 4-inch, black Christian Soriano heels from my under-bed storage box and dropped them off at the high school. We received an excited message late that evening from the choreographer after the dress rehearsal informing us that the heels were a big hit and the boys had no problem pulling off the routine.
Fast forward to last night when my wife, GG friend, and I attended a performance. I could see my heels peeking from beneath a dressing screen on one side of the stage at the start of the scene. Oddly enough, my heart started beating a little faster. Then the boys ducked behind the screen, quickly put on the heels and emerged like in the movie with large turquoise feathered fans. A little gasp, then laughter bubbled up from the audience. The boys smoothly danced and strutted around the stage, subtly flirting with each other, and put the fans to good use with nudging and campy fluttering. Such a delightful scene.
But I was transfixed with my shoes as they strutted and glided across the stage to ripples of laughter and applause. How appealing and almost frighteningly tall they looked on the actors. I loved how in part of the dance they strutted in side view to the audience so it was easy to see the heels in their full glory. I was vicariously living through my shoes in that moment. And I think the actors moved more smoothly than I have in those particular heels, LOL.
After the show, the choreographer described how the boys were very comfortable in the shoes right off the bat and the cast thought they were great, too…changing times, hopefully changing much for the better. And it was so comforting and fun to know that good friends accept me for who I am and can now see me as a helpful resource for female wardrobe items 😉. Gotta support the arts, especially live theater!
Hope you enjoyed this cross-dressing story of sorts. And I apologize since I wasn’t technically dressing during any of it. Nevertheless, I would be curious if any of you have also experienced the vicarious thrill of seeing some of your own feminine wardrobe items being worn by others up on the stage in public.

Beautiful post Bianca! It's definitely a different perspective to see someone else wearing (and wearing them well) something of yours, especially heels we cherish dearly.
As I read your post, an image of my Christian Siriano Habit black pumps from Payless flashed across my mind....I was ecstatic when I read that the heels your wife picked out were Christian Siriano. I'm still going through withdrawals from all the Payless stores closing, but my closet is full of mostly Payless heels, a few from other dept stores and thrift stores.
I gifted one of my sexiest bras to my wife a while ago. Mainly because it was slightly larger than the sizes she buys. She always looks amazing when she wears it. She's not comfortable borrowing any of my stuff, which is too bad since I think I have a decent fashion sense, and love shopping way more than she does, and have the patience and luck to find some cute outfits.
So glad you enjoyed my post, Lea! It was so cool to see my heels up on stage last night.
I, too, am going through withdrawals from the closing of Payless stores. It was just about the only reliable shoe store carrying larger sizes in a variety of styles. Thankfully, I began dressing in earnest about the same time their going out of business sales started, so I now have lots of <$10 shoes, including several very nice Christian Soriano pumps in a variety of colors and styles.
Wonderful that your wife looks great in one of your bras! I have borrowed a couple of my wife’s bras, but not vice versa, at least not so far LOL.
Hugs,
Rochelle
