I have rarely seen a wig that can pass for natural hair. I am wondering how many of us girls have tried to use their own hair when cross dressing and how successful it was? Although thinning, I think I might be able to pull it off with the proper style.

Also, I am wondering how many of us use our natural breasts as much as possible by enhancing them and pushing them up to form some pretty and real cleavage for those low cut dresses and tops? I have A+/B- cups and am always on the look out for the best bra to display them with. Real breast look nicer and mine are very sensitive and I hate to cover them with forms.

@maureen76 If fully dolled up, I would always wear a wig. My real hair is just kept short.

I don't have anything like natural cleavage so  forms are a must and so I don't wear anything low cut or with a wrap neckline.

@maureen76

I use my natural hair so far, I have let it grow a couple of year now, and only let the hairdresser cut the ends to keep it fresh.
I have some wigs I use sometimes at home, they are nice but hard to keep in place.

@og1975swe It is nice that you can use your natural hair---so many of us girls are lacking or receding in the hair department

I have done a bit of experimentation learning how to tape, and I might have done it yesterday, but the forest of upper chest hair made doing that kind of moot. One day at a time.

@harriette Is going smooth a possibility? I never had a huge amount of chest hair, but I don't miss it at all.

@annaredhead You don't miss your chest hair or you won't miss it?

According to what I was able to do with my leg hair (it's pretty much all gone now), it may take a lot longer for my upper chest, from my bustline up. My belly hair seems to be reduced already.

Will I miss the upper chest hair? Not if it means that I can tape and make cleavage, for wearing low-cut tops more naturally.

@harriette I don't miss it. I keep myself smooth, apart from forearms (as they are readily visible)

@annaredhead OK, you asked if it was possible to go smooth. Yes, but the big question is how to do it.

I started with shaving my legs, but the effect didn't last long, so I started using a combination of treatments, to get away from shaving, which left my skin noticeably red in large areas.

I use an IPL wand as much as I can, to actually kill the roots. If I need to do a quick removal of my fur, then I either use an epilator (helps to kill the roots, too), or I use a cream, for no red spots.

@harriette I get on fine with a good 5-blade razor and an aloe vera moisturisers. electric shaver - the effect doesn't last long enough

@annaredhead Right, that's my point. I looked for a longer lasting, even a permanent solution.

I've been letting my hair grow for 3+ years.  It's well past my shoulders.  I recently got highlights and absolutely love how my hair looks!

I haven't worn forms in 2+ years because of breast growth from HRT.  I'm currently a 38C, which isn't very big on my largish chest.  But they're plenty noticeable.  A good push-up bra is all I need these days.

@lizk Yes Liz, that is the first thing I notice in your recent pictures is your full and luscious head of natural hair---did the hormones help fill in thinning hair or was it always full?

I'm fortunate that I've always had a full head of hair.  I don't think it's gotten any fuller since starting HRT. That said, some of the hair care products I use do increase volume.  It's most noticeable in my recent photos.

An old hippy here. I've let my 'freak flag fly' for most of my life. I don't spend much time on styling. It's just who I am. I enjoy long hair. And nowadays I might wear a soft padded bra to let my aging moobs nestle in - hardly DD territory 😀.   And most of my clothes although unisex are off the women's rack. When I'm out and about I dress to suit me, not to fit in or 'pass'. At times  I'm misgendered from a distance (even these days long hair is a powerful subconscious indicator of gender) but never at close quarters. I encountered people who can appear discombobulated by my appearance - I do live in a small place, a little bit 'off the pace'. Just playing the non binary game I guess - although it's not 'playing ' for me. If I'm cross dressing, it's still  in the privacy of my home.

@maureen76 I gave up on wigs quite awhile ago, just too much maintenance required...so in recent years, I've invested into some very pretty headscarves and learning to tie them in various fashionable ways, as well as buying "cute, floppy" sun hats to wear over them....they seem to help me achieve a more "fem" look, but I could never pass with my normal "buzz cut"...!!!  And no way would I ever think of dressing without my forms...hehehe...NO forms...NO Tiny....my rules...!!!

@maureen76 I've been working on my Ph.D for natural looking cleavage haha.  I've tried pretty much everything under the sun from tape, bras, nu bras, push up things, shading, etc.

The thing is, each one separately will give some results, but a combination of a few different methods will generally yield the best results.  For me, if I'm going "cleavage out!" I'll use a push up device (I made my own, but things like the diva are available online), plus some makeup shading and contouring, plus a push up bra, plus another bra.

If I'm going a bit more natural, I'll leave out the push up device, but still usually do a tight bra under a bigger bra, with some shading.  Push up device, shading, tiny pads

This is one with the push up device, and shading and tiny pads

cleavage creation

This one is just shading plus double bras (also tiny pads to round it out)

cleavage creation 2

@maureen76 I want to be as naturally female as I possibly can.   I want to grow my hair out and just dispense with the wigs.  I just haven't taken the plunge yet... hopefully soon.  I've tried breast forms and haven't stuck with them.   I'd much rather have my own natural breasts.  Hopefully, soon I'll be able to start HRT and get that process rolling too!

@maureen76 I had semi long hair so I went with my hair to start but just straightened it and started paying more attention to styling it. And dye jobs. this started in high school for me and it ended very very well for me. The rest I cannot go into due to chat rules and the nature of the interactions following.

Well here goes hair. I've spent a year growing my own hair out. It looked like a wig our founding fathers wore 200 plus years ago! I'm sticking to my wigs!

As far as the girls go I have natural B's so a pushup bra helps there.

@maureen76 I haven't worn a wig for over 3 years now, hopefully my hair will be good for a good long time yet. I have been wearing a camisole type foundation garment that pushes my breasts to give the look of cleavage, but I still wear my forms.

I grew my hair out, hoping to get by without a wig, but it never really worked. I'm not really going bald, but I do have a strong widow's peak, and so I never really looked like anything other than a 40 year old hippie. LOL.

I did go wigless wearing a swimming suit, with a hat, and that seemed to work ok with the long hair, but I don't think it would be convincing if you got up close.

I cut my hair recently, going back to my regular short, "guy" style. It feels like a bit of a loss, but since I'm usually wearing a wig anyway, it's a lot easier.

Good topic Maureen. Ah, the good ol days when I had hair like George Michael 😊 Blow dried and feathered.

I think there are some really good wigs available today. But they are not the ones for $20 on Amazon. However they do look pretty realistic- if you practice placement and styling. Most of them need a little trimmed off  from them as well.

As for Aerosmith- I’m a purist. Their last good album was “Draw the Line”😊 Everything after was too commercial and cookie cutter for me. (sorry “Dude”)

@gracepal Hi Grace, ----I know you can find good wigs---very expensive ones and know that placement, style, trimming are important---I also think matching your skin complexion and age appropriate are pretty important as well --- the "Dude" told me all this and as we know from watching "The Big Lebowski" ---"The Dude Abides" ---LOL

@maureen76 I was actually referencing “Dude Looks Like a Lady” from Aerosmith. Not one of my favorites. “The Big Lebowski” reference reminded me that I’ve never watched the entire movie. Too many stupid parts for me to get through it. I suffer for my high standards 🤣😂😆

Even in my earlier years of being Caty, I did not have enough hair to have it styled in a femme manner. So it's always been wigs for me and Given this old girl worked hard enough and long enough I dont do cheap. So I have high quality wigs both with human and artificial hair.

Now in my late 70's it's a nobrainer. I am as good as bald all over my poor old "lump of lead"

I've been bald since I was about 24, right now all I have is a 2 inch fringe around my head so a wig is essential if I want to look the least bit feminine. It does make it easier to change hair styles and or colors though.

I was letting my hair grow out during Covid but got it cut when things started to open up at my wife's request. I've got 2 wigs that I wear on occasion but not very often as they get very hot. As I only dress at home I'm okay with that. Recently I have started letting my hair grow. I am a bit thin on top but I think it looks okay for what I do. If I were to go out I would probably rethink it though. So far my wife hasn't said anything about me letting it grow and does trim the back of my neck.

I don't have breast forms but do have breast enhancers that I use occasionally. I have natural A/B cup moobs. I was measured at a Torrid store and was told I'm a 44 B maybe C cup. Most of my bras are B cup (they don't make A cup in my band size) and I do a pretty good job filling them out. I do want to get at least one push up bra to help give me some cleavage. My moobs are very sensitive.

XOXO

Hi Maureen,

I am a natural A cup, so a good push up bra gives me a boost that enhances my appearance. It also helps with the cleavage.

As for the hair, wigs NEVER worked for me, but I've always enjoyed having long hair so I decided a few years back to grow it long again. It's past my shoulders now and cut into longer layers so I can style it with a curling iron, or sweep it into an updo of my choosing.

It's always good to have choices!!

Hugs,

Jennifer

Wish that I could, but nature hasn't been that kind.

I did wear my own hair in my teens and 20's but now I'm relegated to wigs. They aren't that bad and I have a few that are very nice. I'd love to have a custom wig made that would really look natural and have that real hair movement. Still looking.

As for breasts, well there's not much to talk about in that area. For now I'll stay with my forms. I have 3 sizes for various outfits and looks and it's nice being able to decide that although it would be so nice to have my own.

@cherylt Hi Cheryl --- I have enough hair left to be tempted to use my own hair but know it wouldn't work sadly----even though I might wish it.

I've just never been satisfied with my wigs---I have six different ones and currently like the curliest and shortest one as it looks most natural and age appropriate. I'm not even sure where to go to get the most natural  looking wig possible. For breast, I guess I am lucky in having enough to cup with some jiggle and sensitivity that I enjoy ---Hugs Maureen

I have long natural hair. While I never ever tried to wear a wig (I don't even know how to put a wig), I defiantly would like to try a wig because I can be "different". I also would like to have tail bone length and my hair is not that long.

@cherylt If you aren't balding or don't have a receding hairline it seems that even age appropriate short hair would be better than a wig....My hair is thinning and medium length and I think I could pull off an older woman's hairstyle from a distance maybe with getting it curled---but maybe I'm dreaming----LOL---wish it was just a mite thicker

@maureen76 Well Maureen, I am balding and thinning. The top resembles a monk if you know what I mean. I tried growing mine out during Covid lockdown, but it was not what I had hoped for. I even tried a topper to fill in the gaps but I hated the way it looked. My wigs are fine for my purpose. I’m still shopping and trying to find a really good human hair wig. I don’t care about the cost.

Thanks for the info though.

@cherylt Thanks for clearing that up Cheryl---it's too bad that so many of us girls here are either thinning or balding ---and it is so difficult to fine a natural looking wig
