As I type this I am fully dressed while working from home. In previous forum posts and replies I mentioned how I have occasionally painted my short fingernails during the work day and even accidentally exposed them on a video conference while in drab-mode though I recovered and came up with a good excuse. Today I went a step further. This past weekend I bought medium length press-on nails, painted them this morning and I am wearing them now while I work. It is quite the learning experience how to function with daily activities especially dressing, using the bathroom and typing. But, It is VERY exhilarating and fun seeing them in all their glory while I go about my day.

This being my maiden voyage with fake nails I decided to forgo the glue and just use double-sided tape to secure them. This is just in case I need to remove them quickly for a meeting or if my college aged children scurry downstairs. Funny thing though. The upside of simple taped-on nails is that they go on and come off easily.  Downside is that they come off easily. I was working for an hour when I realized that one of my nails was missing. Oh my! What if I do not find it and my wife (who knows but DADT) or one of my children (who don’t know) finds it later! That would be impossible to explain away since my wife is very low-maintenance fashion and would never consider using them or painting her nails for that matter. After 15 minutes tearing my desk apart I found it lodged in the waistband of my skirt. Phew, crisis averted. Now I will need to check/secure my nails frequently to be sure I notice them as soon as I can in case one does become separated from the other nine and I walk upstairs with a nail stuck in my hair.

Good for you Jamie, enjoy looking at your beautiful nails as long as you can.  The double sided tape idea is a good one, but like you said be careful if you lose one.

Jamie, meant to ask you, what color did you paint your nails?

That’s great!! My wife is around so I’m not able to paint my nails other than my toes which she rarely sees. I sometimes underdress in panties from my small stash. I once washed a pair and forgot to unload the washer. Thank goodness I got her to leave it for me to do!!

Aren’t long painted nails just devine Jaime?  I had the pleasure of taking a two month sabbatical during my working life and was able to fully grow my nails out during the time off. I had them filed and painted to perfection and got to enjoy them for way too brief a period.  I just about cried when I had to cut my beautiful nails off when it was time to go back to my job.  It’s 35 years later and now I’m free to grow and paint them to my heart’s delight and I’m doing just that!

They are divine. It was pleasently foreign and thrilling at the same time. After an hour I was better at typing and using the tips of my nails rather than the pad of my finger tips. Plus, the clicking of the nails on the keys was very nice. I tried growing them out a little bit but received a lot of grief from my wife in addition to always breaking them while doing my guy actives. So, they unfortunately had to go.

I once spent an entire evening looking for a lost nail. This was the night before my wife returned from working away. I searched everywhere for it, as I knew my wife would find it within seconds on getting home. I literally searched everywhere I had been that evening. I finally gave up.
Then, As I was getting undressed ready for bed, I noticed something in the mirror. The nail had come off us I was pulling my tights back up after using the loo, and was stuck between my leg and my tights.

I Only wear najls when my wife is away as she hates them. I tend to pout them on when she leaves and take them off the night before. I really glue them on and they stay on for the three or four days. A couple will ping off on the first night, but after that they tend to stay stuck.... This time they did, until the last night! I was planning to take them off in the morning, so all was not lost.

Cerys.

I love to paint my nails. I also like to grow them out as long as possible. Luckily my wife is gone for weeks on travels where I don't want to go and is usually gone for 2 weeks or more. Since I know when she is leaving I plan ahead and start letting my nails grow out as long as possible. My nails and my hair grow out pretty fast, it seems. I do have to kind of hide them from her during the last few days before she leaves and if she should happen to look closely she would notice. As soon as she is gone I shape my nails and apply polish. I really like how they look when they are so much longer than I usual and it's so much fun to experiment with different nail shapes and colors.

For sure the day she is return is a sad one. Not only is the polish gone but so are the tips of my nails.

Of course, this is "My Time" while she is gone so I feel free to indulge myself in staying enfemme as possible. This is also when I do most of my Mary shopping. Having long nails at the same time really reinforces the fact that I'm truly living my female life.

Hi Jamie,

I don't get to paint my finger nails much but my toes stay polished except for a week break occasionally.

It is exhilarating to look at and I understand when your afraid you may leave some evidence out in the open.

That's not good.

Any way thanks fir sharing sweetie I bet your nails looked great.

I have been using Impress Nails for years. (they come with the double sided tape already on them) I have only lost a nail once in . . . way too many years. And that was when I was trying on clothes in a dressing room at the Goodwill Store.  My only complaint is that they do not supply enough of the larger size nails. My very male thumbs need rather large nails, and in any set of Impress there are 2 that fit well, and 2 that are sinply OK.

Pretty much the same panicky, nerve-wracking experience here, that you and others have mentioned.  Retraced my steps a thousand times looking for that one Impress nail that had gone missing, knowing that if my wife found it after a long weekend out of town, I would have some serious explaining to do.  Luckily it showed up between my heel and footie sock when I went to change outfits and shoes for a different look as I prepared to go out for the evening en femme.

Whew!  Crisis averted.  And I had a lovely night out, after my heart rate returned to normal levels.

Since I live alone there is no panic over losing one around the house like most of you girls have to deal with. I must add I feel so feminine in them and use to housework in them now. When stepping out I do carry extra nails in my purse though since I have lost one or two on occasion and I know if youre missing a long nail people with notice.

haha, I did the other extreme once. I d never used false nails before and, lets just say, I over glued them lol. Took my gf ages to get them off, and I mean AGES. I very rarely do my finger nails due to work trashing them in seconds, but when I do treat myself it s quite funny as whenever I glimpse them it comes as such a suprise. x
