I couple weeks ago a friend asked if I'd be interested in driving a car he had purchased in Arizona back to my home town. I said I would love to do so with a couple conditions ... that I did not have a strict time schedule and that I could take Route 66 back. The deal was struck and the planing began.
I asked my wife if she would be interested in going for the road trip as she had never seen the Grand Canyon and she does like some road trips. (I was secretly hoping that she would say no so I could go full on MaryAnn for 8-9 days) She jumped at the chance, so I decided to do the entire trip in sort of "stealth" dressed. I only packed women's slacks & jeans, women's tops and jackets and of course women's undies. I didn't go over the top and do full makeup and wig. I knew that was too much for her to handle just yet.
So we traveled 2300 miles with me having a pedicure, manicure (muted shade of nail polish), women's garments (though just slacks, jeans and tops), nylons every day, mascara and a muted shade of lipstick for the entire trip. I was in seventh heaven!
We made countless stops and excursions, we dined out and shopped, we hiked and socialized with many people and she (or anyone we encountered) never said one discouraging word. She even borrowed a pair of my tights to wear under her jeans when it was a little cool in New Mexico.
I guess (hope) that my patience is paying off....

I know that was an interesting trip; I made it with my dad in 1949: From El Reno, OK to Los Angeles. Don't remember any tourist attractions, back then - just open space.

Sounds like a delightful trip and you did it close to what a typical GG would. You wore womens clothes but nothing 'over the top', just looked like a typical girl on a cross country trip.

It's a trip I've wanted to do myself do route 66 but I've wanted to do it on a Harley and wear all the leathers, and maybe wear a leather mini skirt now and again,

Hi Mary Ann. Just read your post re: Route 66. What a wonderful trip. Sound like you and your wife are “pacing” your dressing quite well. I can only hope someday my wife would go along with a road trip like yours.
