Hey all! I just wanted to post in here and ask if there's a unique shopping trend anyone wanted to share? like, how do you decide what you want to wear and then go about getting it? for me, Chloe is a material girl obsessed with branding and status and looks, so I am guided by women's wear brands i have always loved. Initially i would shop secondhand on websites like eBay and Poshmark, but lately i have been buying brand new from brands and sites i love. I go through categories and find something i love. But what about the rest of you? Any brands or sites or just patterns in shopping y'all want to share?

~Chloe

@chloejaylnd Hi Chloe. I have changed much of my shopping habits. I am tending toward a little more conservative clothes. Less revealing, no heals over 2 inches  etc.

Still love soft fabrics and bright colors. Most of my shopping is at Torrid, Target and Walmart in person. Love trying on in store.

I have 3 distinct styles. A-Line 1950's-cut dresses with petticoats, jersey dresses with 3/4 sleeves (all from Weird Fish, a local brand) or hippy clothes, mostly made in Nepal. Hair length and colour varies to suit the outfit, glasses and jewellery are chosen to match everything else.

Hosiery is essential, generally from Snag or Samburu.

Shoes - Long Tall Sally or Irregular Choice are my preferences, but I am limited for choice by size.

Hugs,

Anna x

Nothing so exciting for me Chloe. Amazon is my friend for most things. There is a retailer here in the UK, Roman Originals, that has a lot of dresses that really appeal to me. I've got three in my bag ready to pull the trigger if/when I ever get another chance to explore my feminine side xx.

I envision Wendy as a CEO of a big company, so my shopping trend is business work clothing, like blouses (used to wear long sleeve button blouses but now it is easy tops like t-shirt style), pencil skirts, and pumps.  I don't have a specific brand, as I like to keep pricing as budget concious as possible without going to thrift stores.

When Wendy has to work out, she "hits the pool" in her competitive one piece suits.  Usually it is Amazon from well known suit makers like Speedo, Tyr, or Arena.

I am a girl of style & quality.  Think Talbot, Kate Spade, VS etc.  Amazon of course, and I also use online sites for quality hosiery and more.  Have had great luck with ThreadUp, and love to treasure hunt the thrift / resale shops.  Lately, have a thing for leopard.. getting ready for fall / winter..

Absolutely love the 50's style that Midge Maisel wears.

No, most brands mean nothing to me and much of the time big brands are a deterrent. Some, such as Sheertex, do make sense to support, but only because of the quality of the products that they make.

I do a lot of my shopping in discount stores rather than thrift stores because I need a broader choice of sizes, to find pieces that fit me.

And if something isn't on sale, it means that I can't buy more of items that are on sale.

I'm a practical girl.

"Work hard, play hard" was always my motto in most aspects of my life.so when it comes to dressing Caty, yes, early days she frequented fashion recycle stores for outer wear and mid range but good quality lingerie, (Hello to all my Fayreform Coral bras and panties I bought ten years ago). With the occasional Simone Perele on clearance piece. (There was a SP outlet store near a railway station I used to frequent, big trap,but...$150.00 body suit for 25 bucks.)

Outerwear...new mid range classic Clever Secretary suits, plus skirts blouses and "cardi's", formal wear from Asian cheap suppliers, etc etc.

But as I have aged and retired, (cant take it with you), This lingerie freak has gone upscale  to Simone Perlele, Wacoal and Arianne from Montreal, (Sadly gone broke.)

But then some biological "tragedy" occured. Tho I lost a fair bit of weight, somehow my band size went up by two and 90% of my "lovelies", went to a women's homeless shelter.

It hurt even more. when two of the bras were a result of en femme bra fittings.

Now where's that box of tissues..

Caty.

@chloejaylnd I'd like to tell you that I know exactly what I'm looking for or that I follow fashion closely. That would all be lies. lol

When I go shopping I am very rarely looking for something specific - at times I'll be shopping for a dress or shorts or a skirt, but generically. Most often things just catch my eye. Like the old phrase, "I don't know art, but I know what I like."

Personally, I don't know that I have any favorite brands. I tend to shop at dept stores - N. Rack, JC Penney, Macy's. I just walk around and find stuff...or sometimes don't.

TLDR: I kinda just wing it.

I am not a slave to brands as such. Some 'designer'label clothes aren't of such a great quality these day as they are  probably made in the same factories as some cheaper brands, hence seeing similar quality, styles and patterns in the chain stores. Having had a mother that made clothes and seen how she would explain to my sisters how to see a well made item no matter what the brand.

I do have a few favourite stores that have good clothing but will always be on the look out and find things in unexpected places. Charity shops can produce some new or worn once items at a bargain price and even a local Poundland had a couple of lovely summer dresses at a silly price.

In the days of old buying quality had to be at the fore as that item would have to last a while and even need altering as we didn't have the money back then.

Nowadays it doesn't cost a fortune to look good.
