I've been in the market for a nice fascinator for a while and have looked at a few and already possess one. Yesterday, I visited a milliner and found just the thing. I went there in drab, introduced myself and explained that I was looking for a fascinator. I showed the lady in the shop a couple of photos of me in swing dresses. The lady was very complimentary about my retro look and she managed to find the perfect fascinator for the Anna look. Needless to say it's red and black, hand made, fits comfortably over a wig and will feature in a future photoshoot.
I did explain to her I would worry so much about wearing a swing dress outside and being noticed. Her response was that she loved my photos and thought anyone who wears a such beautiful dress should be noticed.
An amazing service and a really enjoyable experience.

I refer my learned friend to Princess Beatrice's 'pretzel' fascinator worn at Kate and William's wedding; sometimes, they 'fascinate' for all the wrong reasons 🙂

@annaredhead I needed to look up on Google what a fascinator hat is. So cute! Learned something new today. I'm glad you had a good experience shopping and got good feedback from the sales person. I look forward to seeing the look. Since joining the site I have had more boldness around shopping, but haven't quite peeked out of the closet too much yet. Still mostly online experiences. I hope to gain the confidence and boldness enough to be public as Melissa within the next few months. Thanks for sharing your experience-it helps give me and others courage.
@melissa70 Hi Melissa, my experience of shopping in small boutiques is generally very good and they will often have other crossdressing clients anyway. They are great even if you shop in drab mode.

I am glad you got to have such a wonderful experience.
My last two events were the same week, first a trip to Sephora for a makup appointment, it was absolutely amazing having someone fuss over my makeup for close to an hour. Then later in the week I popped in a David's Bridal and tried on a wedding dress, that was equally amazing.
@paulapantyhose Wedding dresses are great, I have one, but can't help looking at others.
