Been spending a few days in Winnipeg by myself as a holiday. Been pretty much dressed in a skirt and wig the entire time. While daily I wear pretty much all female clothes, just not to this extent. My home city is just too small where being seen by family, friends and co-workers is possible.
Yesterday I went to the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Manitoba wearing a knee length denim skirt, black pantyhose, sweater and blonde wig. Was commented on how well I looked and called a lady by one of the employees. The new air museum is nice compared to the old one. After I went to Polo Park Mall and wondered around. Checked out Victoria Secret.
Today I went to the Manitoba Museum wearing the same skirt pantyhose with a blouse. Checked out the Aurora planetarium show. Also went through the main museum. There was no school today in Winnipeg, so there were quite a few children there. The museum has a new exhibit about it bein 50 years since homosexuality became legal in Manitoba. This museum also has non-gendered washrooms. They replaced the individual gendered washrooms with multiple single use washrooms.
Then this evening put on a nice light flowy skirt, black with white dot pantyhose and another blouse then went to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Friday nights from 5pm to 9pm are free admission. It was nice walking around in this skirt, few times I had to check to make sure I was still wearing it since it was so light. This museum made all washrooms non-gendered in 2022. So I actually entered one with a woman standing at the sink. These are the normal type of washrooms without the fully enclosed stall. This museum has in the news a few years ago where certain tour groups were allowed to request LGBTQ+ content be hidden from view. It usually ended up being LGBTQ+ staff that had to hide the content. But now, they don't take those requests anymore. It was these conservative schools that were making the requests. You take a trip to a Human Rights museum and want certain Human Rights hidden!!!
Overall this trip has been very good. No one seemed to care, though I went to places that are LGBTQ+ friendly. There might be some other places that are not as friendly . I did the same trip last year, so it might become an annual pre-birthday trip.
I head home tomorrow back to Brandon. Not sure what I will be doing after I checkout of the hotel and before I drive home. Maybe go to the Forks or Assiniboine Park for a while.
In light of all of the anti-trans stuff going on, I'm glad my province PROTECTS transgender and LGBTQ+ rights. And now that we just kicked out a Conservative provincial government that announced plans for an "Enhanced Parental Right" bill during the election. So now that we have and NDP government, that's not going to take place. This spring my city's school board rejected a proposal to restrict books through a separate parents review board. Right now we have one board member who is one of the anti-trans types. Next week there is a by-election for 2 open seats, hopefully we can keep it to the single anti-LGBTQ member.
I love Winnipeg and Canada. It’s been too long since I have visited.
