I haven't been out fully dressed in months. Today, I felt like I need to begin the week with an outing.
Skinny jeans, sleeveless tip, cardigan, cute sandals, jewelry, a fun, casual look.
I started at a dept store early in the morning. When I entered, I was greeted by a cashier. She was cheerful, definitely looked me up and down, and pleasantly proceeded to ask if I needed any help. I browsed the clearance racks. Today, I was determined to buy something (could always return it later) and affirm my place as a gal shopping. When I was ready to checkout, the same cashier helped me. After I entered my shopping rewards info, she me if I was "xxxx", which is my real name. No hesitation, I said yes. Dressed en femme, this was truly a first. The universe now has a memory of me affirming my real name while dressed. I truly can't believe I've come this far!
(Aside, I am considering changing my shopping rewards info at various stores to use my feminine name. I'm still a guy, I'm not changing that part.)
Sounds like a lovely trip out Lea. Confidence and purpose is key and a good idea to change store card details to make it easier. I have always said that the stores are happy to take your cash no matter how you present.
Lea -
What a wonderful experience for you. Hope you have many more like it inthe future.

Lea... Hi from one CA gal to another. Casual shopping, I love that too. Sometimes there is no need to get all "glammed" up, just get out casual and enjoy the experience. Positive interactions with others when outside is very affirming. Thanks for the story, have fun shopping! Staci...
Hi Lea,
Sounds like you enjoyed a lovely day shopping.

Wow you’re brave!!! Just the thought of interacting with other people in daylight while dressed terrifies me !
I agree, Staci. I do not stress over passing, but look as femme as I can within reason. Nobody cares, and most don't even notice because they are busy with their own lives.
These days especially it is less and less of an issue. I just had a make over at Sephora.yesterday, and it was as normal.as anybody else having a make over. The store was busy and many people.walked by, but I could not detect the least derrision from anybody. In fact, I was rather surprised by the number of male employees at this partcular Sephora. It is getting to be less and less of an issue, so ejoy yourselves out there.
I have a credit card account for both my personal and my business. I had them both issue an additional card in Roberta name. I used my real last name but had them substitute Roberta for the first name. I always have to provide my picture ID at hotels, airports and even at National Park entrances. Not once has it been a problem. Having two different first names.
I do that as well I always sign up for the rewards programs and give them my female email
