Another song of mine originally written in Swedish.
For all those who have come upon really hard times, whatever the reasons.
Christmas eve
English lyrics 16-6-2017
Here I stand, just outside your bolted door,
wishing to be let in like many times before.
Out here it's cold and dark, inside it's light.
Would you please let a stranger stay for the night?
I just wish to share some pieces of bread,
wash my dirty clothes and sleep in a bed.
Slowly I walk away, lonely and torn,
hearing a church choir sing:
'A child has been born'.
Marianne...howdy! I like your poem....you paint a vivid image, it left me looking for more.
My last job was as night security for Bell Canada in the financial district of Toronto. Since I have no-one to spend Christmas Eve or Christmas Day with, I volunteered to work said shifts. They were cold grey days and bitterly cold nights down amongst those high rises. Several homeless people came to my door wanting in to get warm and perhaps a hot coffee. Sadly I had to turn them away due to company policy. Your poem brought back those memories and helplessness. The world can be such a cruel place.

Marianne,
What a touching song and perhaps an indictment of many of us who have turned away from someone in need because of our preconceptions or visceral reaction to appearances, "As he do unto the least of us, you do unto Me"

Dear Lady G.
How sad to be remembered of such a harsh situation. It's almost dejavu, as if I had been there and seen it happen. Don't you please be depressed by those memories awoken by my lyrics.
