just written - another unrequited love for me

If I Told Her

Sitting here thinking,
about a friend;
If I should tell her,
it would be the end.

I long to tell her,
how deep my love has grown;
I long to tell her,
I want her as my own.

As my own true love,
for the rest of my life;
to care for and protect her,
from all of life's strife.

I long to hold her,
feeling her heart beat against mine;
I long to kiss her,
it's sure to top the sweetest wine.

But if I say,
what's in my heart;
I know that she,
would want no part.

I'm not the type,
for her you see;
she could never love,
a man like me.

So I sit here thinking,
about a friend;
I knew if I told her,
it would be the end.

The end of my hope,
of being loved by her;
but I will always,
be a friend to her.

And I am broken hearted.
