I was shopping at a thrift store today and I found a gorgeous pair of leopard print heels in my size and I just had to have them. It is on rare occasion I find any shoes my size at a thrift store, much less ones I actually like. Trough my excitement in the store I did not take notice they were 4 1/2 inches and were the highest heel that I own. I think I may have bitten off a little more than I can chew. After wearing them for a little over an hour at home, my gait improved just slightly. How many others own a pair of heels that are a little too high, but they are so cute you just have to find a way to make them work? Will practice make perfect?

Yes practice will make it perfect in time. One day i was watching at a youtube vide of how to tame hills and the young laidy in the vithe always said walk heel to toes, heels to toes.
What do i feel when get my first 5 inches no platform shoes, i rememberd an streching pain in my calfs, it was burning, also my shines, but most funny was that i was thinking: ok i got my legs straight, and when i pas by the mirror, OMG, legs were bended to the back, i was lookin as those blue creatures in avatar video lol.
after some time i continue to feel a little strech but my legs lloks normaly and when i walk in my mind i always say heel toes, heels toes.

I have a wide variety of heels up to abut 5" and YES practice does make perfect but does NOT mean that depending in the exact style you might not still have hurting feet if you wear them for TOO long!

My preference is 3-4" if I have a choice-makes the legs look nice without killing your feet!

Since my return to crossdressing I notice I have to spend more time stretching my calf muscles after wearing heels. I have a four inch pair that I can walk in ok - but I know I will get muscle cramps if I don't stretch

Kendra, try a smaller heel amd work your way back up to 4" heels over time. It doesn't have to be a long time, but I found the graduation in height will be more comfortable and less painful.

Hi Kelci, you just need more heel time I think.  Make sure you practice on a hard flat floor before moving on to more difficult terrain. I'm fine with 4 to 5 inch heels but once you get past 5 inch with no platform they become more difficult not to wobble in them.

Plus they kill the ball of your feet after about 20 minutes walking in them. I have a pair that are almost 6 inch (will try to attach a picture) and I think they are super sexy but they REALLY try all of my heel walking skills to stay upright.

Plus your feet slide forward when you get that high an angle so I have to put

a thin rubber grip pad in the shoe to help stop the foot slide. They are not easy.

And yet I still love the way they look. Silly girl !!  🙂

Thanks Cynthia I wish those were my legs !!! Just did a screen capture from a shoe website

to show them. After my reply to Kelci I just had to go try them on again. OMG I felt like

a newborn deer trying to walk on wobbly legs. You really need to stay in practice when the heels get that ridiculously high.  But I still love them.

Kelci we need a picture of your new shoes !!  🙂

Here's a YouTube video from runway model Spankie Valentine "How To Walk in High Heels".
I've watched it several times, some because she's fun to watch, others as a refresher. I think it's about the best one I've seen on heels. Oh yeah and I do love to watch runway models.

Samantha you are right. The more practice the better, but the new leopard heels I bought give very little support. I can't for the life of me figure out how to post photos on here, though I have did it once. Grrr

I suggest practice, practice, and more practice.  Start on a hard surface(tile or wood) or on asphalt and just work on your swagger.  It will become easier and before you know it, you will be dancing in heels.  High heel boots are the easiest because you have more support.  Strappy sandals can sometimes be the most difficult to master.  Be careful going up and down the stairs.   xoxo Jillian
