I'm having one of those reflective moments today, when you just sit back and look at life and try to make some sense of it. My sister in law who's been suffering with some kind of palsy passed away yesterday in the wee hours of the morning. Thank god, it's the end to her suffering and her families suffering, she was only 56. My brother's doing okay but he's putting up a front to be strong for his daughter, and I'm waiting for the melt down. It just makes me think how precious and fragile life is and makes me wonder why we get ourselves so hung up on the little things. So as they say, don't waste a day and take the time to stop and smell the roses. Enjoy the little things in life, the touch of a loved ones hand, a big squishy hug from your granddaughter and a good laugh when you're talking to someone special.
Have a good day and take care, love to you all, Heather.
God bless you Kathy, you may have left this world but you will never leave our hearts.
Heather please accept my best wishes in this difficult time for you and your family.
The death of a loved one, or anyone else close to us, can often trigger that contemplative process. When we see how fragile life can be it really does make us re-evaluate what is important and what is just for show.
Years ago, when I finally broke down and told my wife I was a CD I took her on a brief word-journey of my battles within. One of her final observations was "I'd rather have you here in a dress than not have you here at all."
I've written here at CDH about seizing our days; of making the most of the time we have because we never know when that time will run out. Tell those around you that you love them, stress not about those insignificant things that happen and be willing to laugh, cry, smile or frown as the moment dictates. Give thanks where it's due but ignore or dismiss those who seek to bring us down. Enjoy being the best person you can be and if she's wearing a lovely dress or skirt then all the better.
Best wishes.
DearJane, thank you for your kind and as usual very insightful words. You are a lucky person to have such a kind and caring wife and at the end of the day that's what it all comes down to. I don't count my riches by my bank book or the possessions around me but by the love I feel from those around me. After the last couple of days I have come to realize, I am a very rich person. Thank you again for your caring and as the saying goes, Carpe Diem!!
Take care Heather.
