I finally come to the point in my crossdressing life that I have the extreme urge to go public.
But I'm still afraid.
I know what to wear now so that I don't come off as what most crossdressing articles reveal about dressing as a whore.
I got that figured out.
But should I wear a wig, which I don't own one yet. And how about make-up, which I'm not to crazy about putting on anyhow?
I've decided to pick my local Walmart store as the coming out location. And since it's open 24 hours, early in the morning around 1:00 A.M. seems to be the best time.
I've decided to wear a dark blue summer dress, black underwire bra with small inserted breast forms, lime-green thongs under a pair of sheer nude pantyhose, and sandals.
Is that appropriate?
And how about the possibility of being harassed, or worse, being arrested?
Please tell me if I'm going to make the right move?
I can't stand living in secrecy anymore.
Hi Evita,
Whether or not you are making the right move depends on the impression you intend to make and the reaction you wish to get from the people who will see you. Do you want to be seen as a man or as a woman? I am in Australia and I only know you from your profile, picture and the posts you have put on CDH, I am presuming you are somewhere in the USA by your reference to 'Walmart' but I do not know where in the USA you could be.
If you want to be seen as a man in a dress, you should consider how the people who see you will react. Will they think you are doing this as part of a bet or that you have a psychiatric condition and are possibly a danger to them, it is highly unlikely that they will think you are just expressing your desire to wear whatever clothing you feel good in. If they feel uncomfortable in your presence it is quite likely that police may be called, whether you are arrested will depend on your behaviour, the behaviour of those around you, are you creating a public nuisance, local and state laws and probably a thousand other factors.
Even being arrested may be preferable to being physically assaulted. Depending on your neighborhood, you may well have reason to be afraid.
If you want to be seen as a woman or even a transgender woman, having only your picture as a reference, it would appear that you need a wig and probably some make-up to change your appearance to be somewhat more feminine. The use of make-up does require some expertise and a lot of practice before you become adept in it's application. I would suggest viewing you tube tutorials and possibly even taking instructions from a professional make-up artist to acquire the 'look' that you desire.
I would also suggest that you contact other cross dressers in your own area for 'one on one' guidance, they will know more about your local conditions than I ever could.
I hope this is of some assistance to you in deciding whether or not to go public.
Hugs
Sheryl
I think Sheryl is spot on.
There is a vast difference between expressing ourselves as we so choose to do and upsetting or even scaring others. If you think about it, your desire to present as you want to at 1 am might be seen by some as very odd. I think you are risking your personal safety by doing so.
If you want to present as female and end the secrecy then the light of day is safer.
Wigs and makeup let people know what you're trying to say - that you want to express your femininity. You're less likely to be perceived as a predator in the daytime.
