I am closeted. Not because I want to be, in fact, I have been out several times en femme to places where I didn't have to interact with anyone, and truly enjoyed the experiences. But my wife doesn't want me to go out, so to keep the peace I comply with her wishes. I do go into the back yard, sit on the patio, read, drink coffee, beer and wine, or just enjoy the outside. Our yard is pretty private except there is a place where I can see into the neighbors yard, and he into mine. We have been neighbors for 17 years, and have become good friends. Next to my wife, I want him to know about Dayle more than anyone else. I suspect he has seen Dayle on the patio a time or two, not sure. But earlier this week I was on the patio en femme, he was in his yard where we could see each other. We made eye contact. I waved, he waved back, then we both went on with our day. I wasn't sure how we would interact next time we saw each other. I suspect he is more embarrassed than I am. Sooooo, today I was doing yard work (in the man mode of course) and he was outside also. I stopped and went over to visit with him. We had a normal interaction like any other time. No mention of a man in a dress, or a sister visit, or any other mention of a strange looking lady on my patio. All this to say - I don't think it matters to him, and now that the ice is broken I expect one day he and Dayle will share a drink on my patio.
UPDATE: Today I saw my neighbor again, this time I was dressed up. So I went right over to him, told him about my crossdressing, and that he needn't be embarrassed, or worried. I am still me and hope we can still be friends. He was very receptive. I look forward to our continued friendship.
That's fantastic Dayle I'm so pleased for you, it must feel so good. It always feels great when you come out to someone and they react positively. I know it's happened to me and it just Spurs you on and builds confidence. It may also help your wife come to terms with you going out en femme, maybe she will go out with you one day.
