I know many of us shop online and I think there are a few who actually brave some of the local stores. I've too went brave one day and braved the Payless Shoe store. It was quite fun. The day after I attempted Lane Bryant to buy some jewelry and ended up with a Lane Bryant charge card and a bunch of bling.
Yesterday, with Lane Bryant charge card in hand, I decided to I wanted to try that cute skirt I've been looking at on line. Sadly, I were a 3x and know that translates to 22/24 now I'm stuck in a dilemma 22 or 24. So I braved the store - shopping mall mid day in my Harley T-shirt, jeans, cowboy boots the normal man drill. I asked the sales lady about the skirt and apparently it's only an online sales. She said, "If you want me to order it, I need to know which size. Do you need to make a phone call or something?". I replied back "Do you have something similar I can look at say in a 24" (ok girls yes I'm phat) so she pulls put a similar skirt holds it up and says "This is a 24" and I immediately replied "Can I try it on?" She smiled and was very accommodating. I went into the changing room and started to try it on she came back and said "here's the 22 you want to try it too"
And so girls I'm a 22. Ordered me a skirt, skinny jeans (haha skinny jeans in a 22) and a matching jacket. They arrive here next Friday! I feel accomplished, rattled, and a bit odd. On my way home I stopped at the grocery store and bought some lipstick, mascara, and makeup remover.
I'm getting so brave, but then I love talking to women, especially once they figure out where I'm coming from.

I love Macys and yeah this is costing me some cash. Of course in the months that I came out and went through a transformation service for my first night out, I decided I needed my own stuff. So I've gotten some really pretty stuff at Macys. Just discovered Lane Bryant a few weeks ago, but Macy's will always be my first love.

Can definitely identify both wit the cash/cost(looking back it's been thousands in the last five years(clothes.wigs.makeup, breast forms-it all adds up! But SOOOOO worth it!) AND with the storage space problems-I do live alone but have siblings and their adult kids and friends over often(none of whom m I "ou" to) so I can't have my house too openly feminine as I'd like it to be and the sheer volume of stuff(fills two rooms plus 1/3 of the attic but not organized at all).  I need a girl with good fashion sense and organizational skills to help me go through it all, try things on for fit and style and hen figure out how to store it.  How about it Darcy? up to an east coast trip? 🙂

Cynthia, you sound like what you really need to do is cull your wardrobe.
Look hard at what you've bought, to find the stuff that no longer fits or suits, or that you don't wear, and donate that stuff to Goodwill.

Well sorry to say the skirt and jeans didn't workout. The jeans, although really cute, were to long and to baggy. I have short legs and no butt 🙁 The skirt just didn't look right. Don't know if it's just me and the style or because it made me feel fatter than I am.
The jacket, on the other hand, is supper cure. I went back to the store taking the jeans and skirt in for refund and decided to order the dress, which is probably what I should have done the first time. The sales lady that was there the first time I went in the store to buy jewelry was there - she's a sweetheart. She asked me how I liked the jewelry and had me go around the store to find anything else I wanted - after about 10 minutes (other women there too) I got a bit anxious picked out a necklace for the new dress I ordered so now just waiting for the dress to come - Monday YAY I cant wait.
Left there and went into Bath & Body Works to sample their winter line. Bought the "Fresh Sparkling Snow" mist spray, body cream, and shower gel along with the Sweet Pea bubble bath, because the man in me fixed the leak in the bath tub so I could get back to my weekly bubble baths.
Also stopped in Macy's thinking about stopping at the MAC counter but ended up talking to the gal at the Lancôme counter - got me some foundation and primer and a free gift that included their lipstick. Expensive stuff, but certainly a long way from the Maybelline and Revlon.
What a fun day of shopping. I think I may have been more comfortable had I been dressed, but we'll see as I grow and progress

Darcy-that sounds great!  I did like the typo (I hope 🙂 ) of the jacket being a "supper cure" ! 🙂 (presume it was actually "super cute"!)....

You know I luv ya, girly-that's why I tease you-you 113 year old who doesn't look a day over 30!  🙂

This Holiday Season is a great time to shop- not only for others but for one's self.

Lots of sales, too!
