Being someone who is either 'all in' or 'all out' when en femme, I was curious as to other people's levels of this joy we all share. Is just wearing a specific item enough for most, or is it more than that.
In my case, I wear pantyhose under male clothing whenever possible. However, anything more requires everything more. Even to try on a skirt, top or heels I just purchased will mean everything from shapewear to nails. I wear my own style of loungewear around the house at night, to bed and in the morning. That includes everything but make-up and a wig. I can tell that my wife is much more comfortable around me as Jackie when I am not wearing make-up and a wig, so it an easy compromise. I only wear those when we actually go out.
There was a time when going out somewhere was the end all. During the shutdown, mornings and nights in the house was all there was. We replaced carpet in the house with tile and I realized how much easier it is to walk in heels on tile. Hearing my heels on the tile is just as satisfying as it is in a restaurant, club, street or mall, but only when in full ensemble.

@missjackie I only started underdressing since joining CDH, it had not occurred to me to do so.
Before that it was always full Anna mode when I was en-femme. I underdress for work - I wear knickers most of the time now - but otherwise present as male at work.

My style is a bit different than being fully dolled up en femme. I am sort of in a wasteland, or purgatory, inbetween.
I use an androgynous style which pretty much allows me to dress fully that way all day any day. Yes, it is a compromise, but it is a lot more than what many members here allow themselves to do. My biggest dilemmas are figuring out how casual I want to be, or what kind of shape wear or forms to use, and what won't annoy my wife.
I will take that any day over not dressing at all. YMMV
@missjackie I'm quite happy to just put on a skirt or dress at home with nothing else (OK, I'm wearing panties, but I'm always wearing them). No makeup, forms, padding, wig, jewelry (other than my earrings that I'm always wearing). I've even been known to go to the mailbox at the end of my driveway that way.
If I'm going out, then I'll go full out. Usually I'm out for a walk, so my makeup is simply some beard cover (the wig covers the sides of my face). I'm usually wearing sunglasses so I don't even need concealer or eye makeup.
When I come back, I'll usually leave everything on. But if I jusrt came home from being in male mode with no plans to head out, just putting on a skirt is fine by me.

I used to underdress a looong time ago but, now I can dress pretty much when I want, I don't feel the need to. Ok, I'll sometimes wear lace panties instead of my drab ones but that's just occasionally.

All out for me Jackie. Even when in the closet it was the same and do not underdress. I understand why there are those that keep in touch with their feminine self by doing so.
I am of course in a fortunate position to live as a woman now so it isn't an issue.
I wear women's knickers because they are comfortable and I wear quite a bit of jewellery in drab. Sometimes, in the evening, I'll put on a long skirt, but that is mostly because it's warm and comfortable. In general though, I think I'm mostly either in drab or the full works. Apart from the underwear, I don't underdress, doesn't do anything for me. I like to be Becca, or not Becca, there isn't much in the middle.

I'm nearly all-out. Except for visits to specific people in my life who can't handle/won't tolerate me as a woman, there will always be whatever outfit I'm wearing, including shoes and hair. If I'm only going to be round the house all day, I might only put on mascara, blusher and nude lipstick after my shave. I can actually go out into town of a lunchtime like that. But if it's going to be a longer trip out or I'm out later in the day, I'll do the full makeup - this will normally happen at least once per week. It's lovely to look and feel really feminine with my full face on! 🙂
As much as I would like to go all out I don't have the time to apply make up and take it off before going out. I am very comfortable in just wearing a dress, skirt/blouse combination or a nightie or pj's. My dressing time is mostly limited to the early morning and those are the easiest things to wear. I don't get to wear my heels very often but when I do I love the sound they make o the linoleum and hardwood floors. I do occasionally underdress in panties and have worn knee hi nylons with ankle boots when in drab. I wear earrings 24/7 as well bracelets (they have a more masculine design). There are also times I will wear a bit of lipstick in a nude color. I do what I can to express my femininity without being too obvious - it makes me feel good about myself and that is what is important to me. Would I like to go out dressed fully = absolutely and maybe someday I will but for now I'm good.

I run the whole gambit from just panties to fully en femme to every combo inbetween. It all depends on my mood and wear I.am or am going. I alls wear panties, they are my normal day to day wear. I might wear just a dress or skirt around the house, or I add forms,.lipstick or a wig as I feel like it. If I am going out and want to present en femme I tend to go all out, but at times I will just wear.my forms.under a regular shirt, or if cold.out women's jeans. On occasion I will wear a skirt in others male mode, or just.polish and lipstick, again in otherwise male mood. I went to yoga class in yoga pants and nail polish the other day.
My Dear Jackie, girl I ( Kathi) would be full throttle as femme if there was not for the "governor" on this girl engine.. I mean the wife and Kathi have 2 rules- no public photos & not to go out in public unless she agrees ( getting more approval, yes !) So, it's a mix of all out and what is accepted. For instance, shaved and moisturized legs, panties ( don't own men's stuff ) everyday / everywhere. In house , very practical women, light make up, she helps Kathi pick outfits the night before. Being a girl is fun , hard and exciting at all the same time. My point is Kathi is a Hybrid. 
On the infrequent occasions I get to dress, I always go the whole hog, with a complete outfit, shoes, wig and makeup. Because I'm closeted I do go without nail varnish, as it's time consuming to remove.
