Having size 10.5 (UK size) feet is a right pain in the arse when looking for a cute pair of heels, especially with fairly wide feet. Any tips?

@rachel1973 Rachel I can never resist boasting about my dainty UK size 7 feet, so any woman's outlet is open to me. My hands are tiny too, despite being a bit of a larger girl. No extrapolating other bodily measurements please 😂. Sorry but I have no advice for you xx.

@rachel1973

Try googling "prettybigshoes". The website offers a selection of uk suppliers, some more expensive, some cheaper. You'll end up buying online, and  have to be prepared to return shoes that aren't quite right. I'm in the same big feet boat as you, and it can be a real pain. I bought some calf boots online from "Next" for instance, and the return / refund process took a month. They had the same style instore, but stopped at size 8. And , irony, I had to return my online boots because 'extra wide ' turned out to be too wide !

@rachel1973 Hi there everyone. My dear supportive wife has had, as part of her boundaries,  a “No heels!” Rule, which I have fastidiously respected. This evening, prior to supper, we convened for pre meal cocktails; she in a lovely navy with gold detail dress and dark stockings, me in a red skirt, pale pink tunic top and dark brown stockings. I felt good, she looked wonderful….then she looked at my sad man boat loafers…

”You need a nice pair of heels!” …..so that’s how I have just ordered a nice pair of 3inch suede block heels!!!!

Good things come to those who are patient! 😘

@rachel1973 Oh, how I sympathise with you Rachel!

One of my feet is wider than the other, thanks to an annoying 'putting the bins out' accident, so whilst I can wear one shoe very comfortably, the other can pinch. I have some 'proper' man-size stilettos that are long enough to allow me to wiggle my toes but which are just too narrow to be comfortable enough to wear for more than a couple of hours.

I am fortunate though that despite having UK size 10 feet, I can get my feet (relatively) comfortably into certain wide-fit size 43s. Mind you as per, some shoes are more accommodating than others. I do realise that you'll probably hate me the way that I hate those girls with size 7's or less! :D😉

It's a vast improvement on the days when the largest women's sizes available on the high street were 8... how I ever managed to get into those!

@caroline2k Many big brand name stores only stock up to size 9, here. Not much help when I mostly need at least an 11.

@harriette Yes I know Harriette.

That's sort of what I was saying - empathising.

@rachel1973 It's difficult to find sexy heels in larger sizes, but as to comfortable heels and shoes you can look at Clarks, 9 West and others. Personally I wear a US 10W and almost all mine are either Clarks or JBU. They aren't super high or super sexy, but they are pretty and stylish and very comfortable. They aren't "sittin' shoes" they are wearing shoes.

@rachel1973 Honestly, shopping online is the way to go here... Crystal loves to wear stilettos (and hates when I wear block heels), and finding them in a women's size 15 US tends to be rather difficult when shopping in person (I often have difficulty finding men's shoes in a men's 14 US, too).  In the US, Pleaser and Only Maker are our go-to's.

Janet's Closet, Long Tall Sally, Asos and Irregular Choice (for unique shoes) are great choices for your size.

I am size 14 WW. So it's hard for me to find. When I've had the chance to go to a store that sells women's shoes, they usually don't sell them larger than 12. I've gotten 14 online, at Janet's Closet, and at En Femme. And I finally managed to find some Mary Jane at Torrid, which were the ones I wore the most at Keystone. The other pair I wore there were suede flats I bought at Janet's. I didn't wear high heels this year because last year I'd already lost my feet by Friday.

But I am far away from UK.

@firefly thx honey, I managed to get a pair of heels on Amazon a while back and they’re lovely but a bit tight. It’s crazy because in man form I’m a bit of an Imelda Marcos 😂 (over 60 pairs of trainers and about 10 pairs of shoes) but I’ve only got one pair of mid heels in my femme wardrobe

@firefly All my current shoes (sorry to disappoint on numbers, but...) mens size 12; 2x womens 13, 1x womens 14-came from Torrid. And only around $100 total for the 3 pairs...(and I've had some womens 12-13 that seemed to fit, but destroyed my big toes... 😦 )

@firefly Yes, thanks. Through the wonders of Medicare Supplemental, I've acquired mountains of free moleskin 😉

What annoys me, is that you can buy cheap heels in large sizes, but only in "tranny" or stripper heel heights. Sensible heels (3 inches) are expensive in larger sizes.

Also, you can get flat and boring shoes in larger sizes, but heels are only for the small feeted, apparently.

Deichman occasionally do heels in larger sizes, but you have to hunt them down in their shops. Their website never shows larger sizes.

Evans used to be great for larger shoes, but now that they are online only, it's mainly flats or kitten heel. They do have a nice pair of court shoes in a 10, but at £35, a tad pricey for me.

Hi Rachel. I wear a size 11 US men's,so that puts me in a size 13 US women's. I've had really good success ordering from FSJ shoes, Onlymaker, and Pleaser. I have about 30 pairs of heels and boots. FSJ comes in 1/2 sizes as well. All of them go up to size 14-16. Hope this helps!!❤️👩🏻‍🦳

Gals shoes, love ‘em, heck, ladies shoes are what got me into crossdressing!

Since I live in the United States, sorry that I won’t be much help for our cross dressers in other parts of the world.

My go to place for cute comfy shoes (I mostly wear sandalsJ is Marmi Shoes.  They go to a gals size 13 in many styles (I’m a ladies 11 - 12).  A bit pricy, but excellent quality, you get what you pay for.  Marmi has an on line presence as well as several stores in major US cities.

I have many pair of Marmi shoes (sandals) that I wear all the time, love ‘em.

Enjoy your shoe shopping!  Staci…

There are lots of online options for larger womens shoes. My very tall wife needs a womens 12-13, so mainly buys online. Many of the CD online stores carry alrge size shoes especially heels. I wear a womens 10.5, so I just go to the dicount shoe stores and with a bit of looking around can usaully find a nice pair that fit. I have never tried on shoes at a tradition shoe store where a SA brings out shoes to try, but rather go to stores were the isle are stacked with the shoes and you just have to find them yourself. I have never had an issue with trying on heels, nor checking out with my high heel purchase, but I live in southern California, so people do not care much about such things.

Hi Rachel,

Try Long Tall Sally.  They carry size 14 and 15 womens heels.

So other than sizing issues we face, I have another sort of issue and that is with pumps. I can't for the life of me get them to stay on my feet while walking. My heel always slips out causing me to look like a baby giraffe. I've taken to only looking for styles that have some sort of strap but that's not exactly the look I'm wanting. Any insider knowledge?

@darcy97 You can get special grippy inserts that attach to the inside of the shoe and grip your heel. They're soft silicon so are probably quite gentle..

@darcy97 I don't usually have that issue as I'm a GG with a perfect US 7 foot so all shoes tend to fit me quite well.  I do keep these with me, in case any of my friends (and hubby) has an issue.

@darcy97

Glad you got your answer earlier,  but some of us (or just me!) love the strap look!  Huge Smile

I do draw the line at the kind with locking straps personally, but who am I to judge?

Hi Rachel,

Being in the UK, have you tried looking on Asos?

I have bought many heels from there, however, some sizes are a bit hit or miss. That being said, they have started in some styles going up to UK13.
