Do you crossdress to blend in or stand out?

Dear Readers,

I’m delighted today to share a guest article from a lovely lady on the East Coast. Her fabulous style is matched only by the charming and witty writing she does at SXYCDGRL. Please welcome her to Crossdresser Heaven, and share your thoughts in the comments below!

Do you dress to pass and blend?

Or do you dress to stick out ? What is your goal when you are crossdressing ?

Adriana is confident out dressed

For me, I guess it is a little bit of both, it just depends on the occasion. Where am I going ? Is it out into the vanilla world ? Or am I going to a wild CD/TG party ?

EnFemme Style

If it is out into the “real world” I do my best to basically blend in, I take my cues from real women.  When out in public I feel the need to “represent” our community the best way that I can , so I dress accordingly & appropriate for the venue, weather, etc.  I keep it simple, like this picture taken on a trip up to Boston, just some leggings, a plain tee,  jacket & minimal accessories. I guess you could call that my “blend mode” When I am out dressed like this, I know I am not drawing any unwanted attention and I am confident. Dressing in what you “feel good” in seems to always win for me. If I’m not feeling right, it’s time for a wardrobe change.

Sometimes though I really want to let my girl flag fly high, and I will have a little fun. Especially if I am headed to a big CD/TG event and I know the gals are going to be dressed for a good time.

Like this pic, taken at one of the big CD/TG Events in New Hope Pa called Raven. Here the gals throw an “Oscar Style”  red carpet party, some dress to the nines in gowns, yet others will come in almost full fetish gear. So to me this seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally wear that Tu Tu Skirt I bought. And it’s a CD/TG party so why not have fun with it right? I edged up the outfit with a bold colored moto jacket, and my favorite chunky heeled combat boots to give me a funky grunge look.  This is something I would never actually wear out in public, so sometimes at these events I like to push the envelope a bit. Am I belnding ?? Not at all. And there I guess it does not matter anyway, the point is to have fun at these events.

So in the end, I guess it depends on where you are going, and what you are doing. I cant tell you what to wear, but I can say that when you step out the front door, you are representing  me, you, and our entire community so do us all proud and leave the fishnets at home when your headed to the mall. When you go out in public do you dress to blend in ? Or stick out ?? Ad your comments to the comment section xoxo.

I dress to pass also but enjoy the looks I get when I ‘push’ it a little bit. Sometimes I feel like a short skirt to show off my legs. They are totally smooth an d tan in the summer. Love the feeling of a little fresh air up my skirt to my panties. There is no better feeling while grocery shopping. Some cute sandals or wedges show of my calves. (My wife says she is jealous). A nice little top always adds to the look.

If only I had the guts to go out as Stefanie I would defenitley dress to stand out. I am that kinda gurl. But here in sunny RSA it is not possible because of people that do not understand us fully. So it’s inside behind vlosed doors at all times.

Of course, it depends on the destination, event, activities. I personally dress to make me feel good. I have lived all OVER the country & have finally settled in a “COOLER " climate. I can now wear my clothes without sweating!!
I like to wear girdles, stockings & waist cinching. I like wearing petticoats with 40’s look dresses. Always in heels, to match my belts and bags. Paint my nails to compliment the colors in the outfit. Makeup to correspond. I dress for me. T.J.

Thank you for a really good article. I often have the urge to go with short skirts when a little longer is probably more appropriate. I agree Blending is goal in many instances. Thx again. Christy

Im a blend in sort of girl… try to stay just under the radar..If some looks at me in passing they may think ‘cute girl’ and keep walking and not stand stare. I always worry when someone starts to study me. The ‘tomboy’ look is effective if you can still seem like a convincing girl. The Femboy look just doesn’t work. But now that I’ve graduated from high school and my social circles are changing, I do dress a bit more feminine…Its hard to hold back when your date wants to take you to an Art Gallery opening or a… Read more »

I am shy and dont like standing out so blending in is my thing. I wear skirts dresses leggings when out in public but always in heels. I do love that fresh air up the skirt too lol. Over time I am comfortable with myself as debbie out in public now and shop totally that way

I definitely dress to blend in which of course means I try to dress appropriate to the occasion and venue. If I’m out shopping it’s something like jeans, a casual top and sneakers. For a trip to a restaurant, a nice dress with heels. I think it’s most important to pass when using the ladies rest room/toilet. I always feel that this is when I’m subject to the most scrutiny and possible hostility.

I have only recently started going out en femme. So far it has been alone to shops. Then I want to blend in, so its jeans or trousers, jacket, scarf, handbag, necklace, cloves. The first time out I had my 4″ heels and that was too much comparably, so went and bought lower heeled boots the same day. I have yet to go out in company, then I will coordinate with the others.
