Yes, most of remember these early shopping expeditions.
I may have been around 10, and I combined allowance money and money I earned cutting lawns and doing chores for neighbors, then rode the city bus into town, Union NJ. At Woolworth’s or McCrory’s dime stores (remember those in the 1950s?), I purchased panties and a cheap bra. At this age, I was wearing my mother’s clothes and the girl across the street would allow me to use some of her items.
Around 12 years old, I began using the Sears mail order catalog. At 16, I had my driver’s license, which made everything so easy.
