I think that this is so heartwarming to read.
And yes, it was so brave for your child to know and reach out to you about this. At that age I was too conflicted with my emotions to know or make a decision like this and I would very much have been too afraid to have told my parents anyway, but the fact that you are doing everything you can to support and understand and help has just put the biggest smile on my face.
