That’s very true, Abbie.
From what I can gather, other than acorns for the winter, is that in Canada we have the concept of “freedom from” as opposed to “freedom to”.
We are free from hate in all its forms, especially since our federal Human Rights Code was amended just recently in 2017 to include gender identity and gender expression as protected rights. In fact, any hateful comments or physical acts are considered hate crimes and are punishable under our Criminal Code.
But… all good in theory!
